Episode 20 - Mind: The Pills
In this twentieth episode of the Mandible podcast, show host Jesse "Hesh" Heshel discusses and provides definitions for concepts that are often bantered about the concepts of the Blue Pill, Red Pill and Black Pill. Understanding and defining what those concepts are, especially for men working to become their greatest selves in the world, is important as you ingest content. Hesh provides definitions and examples and there is a vast range of content that would fall under approaches to life such as "the red pill." Additionally, more women are starting to become aware of red pill concepts and understand that they too suffer due to the social imbalances in the West as men make logical decisions to avoid encounters with women, the legal system and the cultural structures. Episode 17 - Mind: On Cowardice

Episode 17 - Mind: On Cowardice
In this seventeenth episode of the Mandible podcast, show host Jesse "Hesh" Heshel discusses a vice that cripples men and is undermining society. That vice is: cowardice. In episode 13 Hesh discussed the four Tactical Virtues as proposed by Jack Donovan. Cowardice is the opposite of the virtue of courage. Men are expected to be brave and courageous and were historically rewarded for and encouraged to be brave. When men act bravely - including asserting their values - society wins. Hesh discusses the failure of courage physically and mentally when men fail to act or fail to speak. Shakespeare says it as "the coward dies a thousand deaths but the valient only once." That maxim has lasted the test of time. Hesh also discusses some examples for men of faith and an example for secularist men; will you choose courage or cowardice? Lastly, Hesh discusses what to do when you've failed and chosen the easy path of cowardice and how to revisit those events to prepare to be brave and courageous in the future. Like the show? Jun 17 2022
Episode 14 - Myth: The Fall of Solomon
In this fourteenth episode of the Mandible podcast, show host Jesse "Hesh" Heshel discusses what we can learn from the life and legend of the Biblical King Solomon, the son of David. Hesh provides the backstory to Solomon, how his father came to know his mother Bath-Sheba and the many lessons men can learn from the failure and fall of Solomon. Solomon was given every opportunity to be a good and righteous leader of Israel but he instead chose his own path by pursuing women as a means to peace and prosperity through political marriages. Additionally, we see how Solomon is held responsible for his actions and behavior and lessons that we can learn about staying on the path of your mission. Do not let anything deter you from your mission and purpose and if you are on that path you can turn back just as was promised to Solomon during the theophany of God's appearance to him during the dedication of the temple in Jerusalem. Jack Donovan is an author who has written several books that are concerned with masculinity, men’s issues, and a philosophy of men. In his seminal book, The Way of Men, the first part of a trilogy series with the other books being Becoming A Barbarian and A More Complete Beast, he posits the idea of the Tactical Virtues which are discussed today. He also notes that there is a difference between being a “good” man and being “good” at being a man.  Lastly, we discuss the four tactical virtues of Courage, Honor, Strength and Mastery and Hesh suggests another, Vision, to add to the four plus more content. Episode 9 - Things Mean Things
Apr 30 2022
Episode 9 - Things Mean Things
In this ninth episode of the Mandible podcast, show host Jesse "Hesh" Heshel discusses how we interpret the world. In academic terms this is called hermeneutics, the art and rules of interpretation. Usually it is associated with text documents - especially older religious texts - but has applications in multiple fields including law, politics, finance and narratives used to shape and form culture. Narratives weaponized against men and the masculine - and femininity also. Hesh discusses five "rules" you can follow when evaluating and interpreting stories made or presented and how having that strategic mind can be very beneficial and lead to greater success. Don't just accept claims made - including this one - but evaluate the claim being made and see if it stands in the face of logic, reason and empirical evidence. Episode 8 - Mob
Apr 23 2022
Episode 8 - Mob
In this eighth episode of the Mandible podcast, show host Jesse "Hesh" Heshel discusses the next and final theater of operation, Mob. You have to have other men around you, together to support each other to become great. You have to have brothers. You have to have a tribe and be in a mob. Men need friendship with other men. Men need them because we are facing the madness and fury of the world together. Separated – which is what the powerful want; they don’t want men united together in a cause – we are easily picked off one by one by the system that is created to keep you in line so you are a productive and milktoast citizen. The powerful have a vested interest in doing so; it keeps their positions safe. We discuss some areas to find other men and strategies to get involved. We also discuss some stereotypes and tropes that men aren’t social creatures. Women have that showered on them. Men may speak less but they’re not less social. There is a hierarchy that develops, a pecking order that occurs with men in groups and men will sort that out, often times without speaking. Having other men in your life is a missing quality in most men’s lives that they really need. Until then – set your face towards greatness. Like the show? Episode 7 - Money
Apr 22 2022
Episode 7 - Money
In this seventh episode of the Mandible podcast, show host Jesse "Hesh" Heshel discusses the next theater of operation, Money. Money is of course very important to all people, but especially men. You give your life for it. Your status as a provider is tied to your ability to produce it. We also discuss how the rules have all changed and many men are living in a worldview where they are playing by monetary policy that doesn’t benefit them and even works against them. The theater of Money also includes a man’s preparation to not be a victim of scams and fraud. During times of economic downturn you get more fraud, more financial crime and the rapid pace of technology hastens the fraudsters. What is your personal fraud prevention plan? How are you handling and managing your financial accounts security wise? That falls under the money category too. In this episode we also discuss the religious wisdom about money and what is good in life. Loving money is foolish; but making it doesn’t have to be and if you can join your mission with your job a man can have a very satisfying life. Men must be mercenary about money in this current condition. This means evaluating our attachments to the security of a job, profession, titles, etc. That is part of the Money theater too and more. Episode 6 - Muscle
Apr 21 2022
Episode 6 - Muscle
In this sixth episode of the Mandible podcast, show host Jesse "Hesh" Heshel discusses the importance of caring for your body in the theater we call Muscle. Muscle – apart from the continued alliteration of the six theaters of operation – muscle isn’t just about bodybuilding but is about your body. So in some sense yes, we are building your body. You need to and can take action on your body. Muscle also includes working out and being physically fit. It’s good to be strong. It feels good, it feels right. It is a gift to live in this body, this body holding us and to be part of the world. It’s also about your body in general. We also discuss how often a man goes to the doctor, a man’s flexibility, mobility, eyesight, and going to the dentist. Men simply do not take care of their bodies as they should. We can change and alter our bodies and they are responsive. Cutting out garbage foods, adding in even moderate strength training can result in massive and rapid changes. Our lives are lived in these bodies and yes, they will end, but we can do great things with them while we have the time given to us. Until then – set your face towards greatness. Like the show? Episode 5 - Mind
Apr 20 2022
Episode 5 - Mind
In this fifth episode of the Mandible podcast, show host Jesse "Hesh" Heshel discusses the importance of mind and thinking. Mind is about how you think about the world. You have to have a strategy, a way that you will approach life. Taking an action, without thought – also known as thoughtlessness – is simply foolish. You will not get to where you want to go and not be who you want to be without thinking deeply about the issues that affect you in that quest. We discuss “mind-set” which is about perspectives about the world or worldviews. There are three steps to crafting a strategic mind that men can undertake. We establish a “mind-set” in order to evaluate competing strategies and even combative and hostile strategies, worldviews and perspectives. You have to have both shield and spear mentally. Resilience is also another part of our mindset that we can cultivate so that we view problems and challenges in a specific way. We also discuss how intelligence isn’t the same as a worldview; there are a lot of smart people in the world who do a lot of dumb things. You don’t have to have a 140 IQ to develop a strategic mind. In closing – develop a mind that is worthy of and supports your journey towards being your greatest and most excellent self in the world. Until then – set your face towards greatness. Like the show? Episode 4 - Myth
Apr 19 2022
Episode 4 - Myth
In this fourth episode of the Mandible podcast, show host Jesse "Hesh" Heshel discusses the importance of finding a myth, a guiding motivational metanarrative, to serve you in your masculine journey. Our ancestral kin told stories many thousands of years ago around the nightly fire. They shared meager provisions caught on a successful hunt or scavenged from the fields and earth itself. That sacred fire drove away the growling and stalking sounds of the dark and kept our predecessors warm against the frigid and lifeless cold. But those fires were more than just warmth and a defense against the stalking darkness. It was the place for storytelling. It was the place where the great stories of human existence were passed down, generation to generation. Those stories taught our ancestral kin the mysteries of life and birthed a greater purpose, a purpose that inspired them to survive and fight on for another day. That day includes today's modern man, as we are the heir of strong and rugged survivors. Their stories kept them going so you can be here to share in the bounty of the world. Myths are inspiration with purpose; they teach us something about life, our tribe and our place in the greater world. Myth tells us what the boundaries are, where the perimeter lies. Myth teaches us the folly of breaking those boundaries and the prize of defending them. Myth inspires action or warns against false action. Men of today need the transformative power of myth more now than ever. We can learn from the great myths of our forebears; we must in order to both learn about ourselves but to also forge new myths for future generations of men. We can rekindle the fire, the fire that lights the way for men of today. We can and must become…something greater. Until then – set your face towards greatness. Like the show? Episode 3 - Mission
Apr 17 2022
Episode 3 - Mission
In this third episode of the Mandible podcast, show host Jesse "Hesh" Heshel discusses the importance of mission. To put it bluntly: Mission. Is. Everything. Service and responsibility matters and extends from and even past mission. Our age is the age of nihilism and nothingness. That is what we are combatting and at war with. Mission is the by-product of purpose and virtue. A man must find his purpose and calling. A man must find what it is that he wants to do in the world in order to find satisfaction. Men have to define their purpose and only each one can discover that. Finding purpose has always been priority but it just looks different in different epochs. Our days of comfort where everything we want is available to us with an app means we have to find a different purpose in this different age. This is why Mandible focuses on six theaters of action that men can take action in to find that mission and purpose and become their greatest selves in the world.
