Small Town Murder is all about American scandals, crimes, and killings. Hosts James Pietragallo and Jimmie Whisman look at infamous crimes in tight-knit communities. What makes those towns unique? What led to murder? And, of course, what were the details of that specific murder in a small town? This podcast answers these questions and more.

This twist to this true crime podcast is how Small Town Murder brings a dash of fun to the heaviness. Jimmie Whisman and James Pietragallo started this mix of serious and silly in 2016 with their Crime in Sports podcast. They created Small Town Murder the following year. The hosts examine all the details of each crime, ensuring listeners never miss the story. But the two men are both standup comedians in their day jobs. So they also make each Small Town Murder episode hilarious. The result is a fun listen on not-so-fun topics.

This podcast is perfect for a long drive, a quick commute, or even an entire afternoon of grisly listening. Hosts make sure to get into the nitty-gritty about the small towns themselves. From Dickinson, North Dakota, to Conway, South Carolina, no town is off the table.

Small Town Murder has two types of episodes. Some of the episodes last as long as three hours, while others, called “STM Express,” only run about an hour for each one. New episodes drop three times a week. That means there's lots of listening to catch up on. The segments usually are standalone. So listeners do not need to start from the beginning to get the full impact of the podcast. Listeners seeking a funny true crime podcast will like Small Town Murder.
