The effects of close relationships on mental health may seem obvious, but what about other types of relationships?  Family structures, our friends, and romantic partners and acquaintances' help to increase feelings of belonging. They can also be damaging and blur the line of who our friends really are.
However, the quality of your relationships is really important too. Experts say there’s evidence that negative relationships and social interactions – especially with those you’re closest to – may increase your risk of mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. Personality is an important determinant of many outcomes including relationship satisfaction and psychopathology.
There are three common mental wellbeing problems can affect you and the ones you love:
* Relationships and stress
* Relationships and depression
* Relationships and anxiety
Whether you have problems with mental illness/health or not, it’s important to value and nurture your relationships, both the old ones and the new.

Anxiety can trigger depression and other behavioral physical and mental health issues. It is especially hard if you are dealing with other personal, work, relationship, or family-related issues. It is okay to ask for help.
