In this episode, Dr. Wendy Schofer and I discuss the American Academy of Pediatrics' Clinical Practice Guideline for the Evaluation and Treatment of Children and Adolescents with Obesity.
We talk about Dr. Schofer's belief that it's time to shift the conversation we have with our kids and in our clinical practices away from weight. We also discuss the dilemma physicians face in trying to move away from a weight-centered approach when so many families come to the doctor's office wanting to discuss their child's weight.
We don't claim to have all of the answers, but Dr. Schofer is clear that our current focus on weight is not helpful for our children.
Dr. Schofer is a pediatrician, lifestyle physician, and coach. She helps parents who are worried about weight.
