"Independence, to me, doesn't mean you'll stop working. It means you only do the work that you like with people you like at the times you want for as long as you want." -Morgan Housel
On today's episode Abby and Margot talk about what it's like being part of the gig economy aka independent contractors. They discuss the differences between being an IC and being a small business, and share stories about learning some things the hard way when choosing to work for different companies and how not all IC work is equal. They share how they've learned from their mistakes, and how they've navigated the anxiety that comes with instability, unpredictability, people pleasing and managing others expectations. They acknowledge that it's a privilege to be able to pick and choose (even after hard lessons learned), where they work and with whom while knowing that not everyone has a choice. Finally, they remind the Warriors to check on their friends that work in the gig economy and offer a listening ear/emotional support when they can--as it's not always easy. Then again, what is? :)
