This episode I invited an old friend from the sci-fi convention days onto the show to discuss Furries, Food, Mental Health, and the different underground caverns and hauntings (and some history) around the greater St. Louis MO (my original hometown) area. This episode I was able to snag yet another really cool and interesting guest. Someone who resides and works in Japan and owns and operates the world famous online company J-LIST. It is my great honor to introduce you all to Peter Payne or Your Friend in Japan!  This was a real delight of a discussion to finally get the chance to talk to Peter, and we get into many things from his start of his great journey to leave the U.S. right after University and to set up a home and life and then a few distribution companies in his new home, Japan. There are a lot of other interviews out there with Peter that talk about anime, so I wanted to dive in a little deeper to find out just who Peter is. And how his travels and adventures over the last several decades have influenced or affected him. But of course as much as I tried to stray shy of the anime topic to discuss Japan and the cultural differences etc., anime did pop up a good bit. It's almost impossible to not talk about it since we both have such a huge love of the artform and well, he does own a business that distributes related products around the world. So it's a given it would come up, and I'm really glad that it did. I start off this episode with yet another brief message describing the technical difficulties I found after recording this episode. My apologies for that but the issues are fixed and should be much better from here on out.  This episode I welcome a new guest to the show, Stephen from DreamHerbally.  Stephen is in the behavioral science and research methodology field and a dreamwork facilitator in which I played a small part in his certification program last year. I have been wanting to get him on the show for awhile now and finally the stars have aligned enough to get him on here to discuss the program, it's methods, and many other related things.  He also runs his own company called DreamHerbally where he researches and creates and sells various blends of tea that can be used to enhance dreaming and for other ceremonial reasons.  In this episode we discuss everything from Energy, Time and Space, Dreams, Interconnectedness, Psychedelic Experiences and Integration and much much more. I start off this episode with an added message describing the technical difficulties I found after recording. I was using the wrong mic input and it took a lot of work to get it to sound okay. I didn't want to waste this episode because the discussion with our guest was great. This episode I would like to welcome back our friend Erica who was on our very first episode. I realized after recording that episode as I have done almost every time I’ve recorded, that I missed so much information that I could have gone deeper into with each guest. So I wanted to get Erica back on here so we can address some of those things that we missed out on and to just catch up with her to see how things are going. As you may remember Erica was hit hard with COVID at the very beginning of the pandemic and had a series of different issues pop up that had put her out of work for a long while and had just made life very difficult for her and her family. I had originally intended to make that episode about the effects a bad case of Covid can have on a person's mental health, and we touched on it a bit but not nearly enough. So this time we go a bit deeper into those areas of mental health and find out some new interesting issues that have come up since then.  We also go on a few tangents and discuss a few other interesting subjects such as spiders and reproductive rights but not about the reproductive rights of spiders. That will be another episode. **Spoiler Alert**  Welcome back to the Wormhole Manifest. It's been several weeks since the last episode due to my work getting really busy and leaving me hardly any time to get the editing done on this one. But I finally finished it, so please let me know if I've missed anything. In this episode I bring back my good friend Rob for a special episode geared almost entirely to the anime series Cowboy Bebop as well as several other related subjects.  We compare and contrast just some of the differences between the Bebop anime and newly released live action adaptation that premiered on Netflix Nov/Dec 2021.  We also dig into some of the tech and aesthetics and styles of the original anime and we briefly discuss the endings of the shows, hence the Spoiler Alert posted above. So if you haven't seen them yet or don't care about learning what happens then listen at your own risk. I also read a brief bit of an article I found on TIME's website that has a good description of what the series Cowboy Bebop is about (I posted a link to that article below for reference).   We go on to talk a bit about other Live Action Anime adaptations, Summer Wars, Ghost in the Shell, and a bit too much about Scarlet Johansson, Sing 2, and a few other things relating to the main topic of this episode and anime in general. Welcome to Season Two of the Wormhole Manifest Podcast On this episode I am joined by Lisa who is a Molecular Biologist and we discuss vaccines, the pandemic, anime, and a whole bunch of cool stuff.  We go into a bit about Lisa’s background and education and where she's from. Then we shift into talking about DNA and altered DNA and vaccines and her research and work that she does. We discuss some of my childhood health issues and shots and vaccines I got in the military. We go into a bit about dealing with the pandemic and social anxieties and some of the potential side effects of the pandemic itself. We talk demographics of politics and then swing over to talk about people with anime profile pics and a little bit about anime in general. Then we get into some of Lisa’s past, heritage, and cultural difficulties that she's had to deal with (which we decide we could do a whole future episode about in the future at some point which could really be beneficial to others in the same situation). Then we come back around to vaccines again to wrap it up and why we should all get the booster. It was a really great discussion overall and I learned a lot. Welcome to Wormhole Manifest: Once your name is on the manifest your journey will begin. What better way to bring in the Christmas holiday other than talking about Witchcraft? This episode I speak with Jarred who is a Wyrd-Worker (or witch). This was really fun as we get to learn a lot about what Wyrd means, some interesting things about magic, the occult, and magick. He tells us about growing up as a Christian in the Pentecostal of full gospel church and his move over to witchcraft. We talk about belief systems, being a good person, doing no harm, and accepting that your actions may have consequences. Practices, hexing, astrology, conservative Christian fearmongering, and the differences between types of witchcraft and the areas of origins of these systems. I learned the difference between orthopraxis and orthodoxy and that witches were never burned at the stake in the US. Also that there are atheist's in almost all religions. As must as this was a history lesson it was also a really good free flowing conversation with a new friend. I learned a lot and I hope you do too. Enjoy! Welcome to Wormhole Manifest: Once your name is on the manifest your journey will begin. This episode I got to speak with an old friend and podcasting veteran. The Internets Tayrel713 (aka Tee) gives some sage like advice about podcasting while also talking about Mental Health, being in lockdown, traveling around the Midwest, our trips to Chicago and me visiting the Misawa Japanese Marketplace and anime conventions up there. We learn a little about Ohio from Tee, teaching our teens how to drive, the old days of talking to people on the phone, and we round it all off by discussing some movies and anime that we like. We are both excited about the new Matrix movie movie coming out next week and we talk about when and where we first saw the original and the impacts it had on us. This was a special solo episode where Wormhole Matt maps out the last several years of living in a mental health crisis and steps he's taken to overcome it.
