Episode 3 | Zero to One with Coach Clark & Coach Vernon
A great piece of advice for all players is to use the game of basketball, not to let the game use you. For Drew, his story was made in large part by the coaches who made the game possible for him. Two of those key figures were, Coach Woods and Coach Vernon, going way back to grade school in St. Louis. On the strength of Drew's elite level work ethic, these two coaches cultivated his drive, and instilled in him the right way to play.
By putting players in environments to get better, they will do exactly that. This includes taking your L’s. Which also means learning from those losses. And while they may not appreciate it in the moment, as Drew details, those lessons pay off years down the road. It's those coaches that work far beyond X’s and O’s, but rather serve as mentors, father figures and leaders, who should stand up and applaud.
