Sons of UCF Conversations - UCF Baseball Coach Jay Bergman

Sons of UCF

May 6 2024 • 1 hr 22 mins

The Sons of UCF spoke with former UCF Baseball Coach Jay Bergman in a wide ranging interview covering his career with the Knights. Bergman was named coach in 1983, taking over a program that was behind in facilities, lacked a recruiting budget, and without a culture of consistent success.  Over the next 26 years, Bergman helped to usher UCF Baseball into a new era, buttressed by the performances of MLB caliber players such as Chad Mottola, Justin Pope, Dee Brown, Jason Arnold, Mike Maroth, and a young Rich Wallace (now the current UCF Head Baseball Coach). Bergman's tenure with UCF came to an end in 2008 amidst allegations of misconduct, and he has largely steered clear of UCF since. However, with the appointment of Wallace as head coach, Bergman has had an opportunity to re-join the Knight community he served for so long.  For more, check out www.SonsofUCF.com Learn more about your ad choices.
