Autum talks about how she parents can be inclined to teach their daughters to be "nice" or polite over following their truth because we don't want them to experience hurt. But, by teaching them how to assert themselves (which is different from being aggressive), to know who they are, and to be kind..... they can all coexist to create less hurt later.
