On Resilience And Empowering Victims Of Domestic Violence With Kelli Martin | Episode 2

Since 1972 Podcast

Jan 18 2022 • 53 mins

In the second episode of Since 1972, I am honoured to talk with Kelli Martin, a talented and respected solicitor, business leader and social justice advocate. She has worked predominantly in family and criminal law and is a member of the not-for-profit Red Rose Foundation, which actively works to end domestic and family violence.

In this profoundly moving and emotional podcast, Kelli talks about her experience as a lawyer constantly exposed to the trauma and abuses that her clients go through. Despite developing PTSD brought about by her work, she continues to help her clients break the cycle of violence that has entrapped them. She's a strong and inspiring woman, and I just know that you'll also be just as moved as I was when I talked to her.

In 2020, Kelli was named Partner of the Year – SME at Lawyers Weekly's Women in Law Awards and also won the ''Business Achiever'' Award in the Greater Brisbane Women in Business Awards. Have a listen to her powerful story and know what it means to raise your voice not to shout but to have a voice for people that can't be heard.
