She was raised in Miami, Florida and after completing her masters degree at the University of Miami, she moved to complete a doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology at Louisiana Tech University.
She completed a predoctoral internship at the New Jersey VA and then completed her postdoctoral residency at a crisis hospital in Central Florida. She then moved to Brooklyn for a while before settling in Asheville, North Carolina. She is trained in crisis intervention, suicide prevention, grief counseling, and evidence-based practices for therapy. She is also an adjunct professor at Fayetteville State University.
