How to find your purpose in life (with Stoicism) (#012)
Finding your own purpose in life – how does that work? Many articles, podcasts and videos talk about the purpose of existence, a personal mission or even one's own destiny in life. All well and good, but how can one actually find this purpose in life, one's destiny?
Destiny is not the same as destiny
If one speaks of destiny, purpose of existence or the like, very big topics are quickly spoken of: colonizing Mars (Elon Musk), helping the poor in India, stopping climate change and so on. Of course, the truth is different: most people see their purpose in life as either making a career (whatever it is), raising their own children or maybe just buying a house. All of these ideas are not wrong, but they bring their own problems.
Stoicism has the solution
The solution to the search for one's own destiny lies - as is so often the case - in one's own virtue. It has all the important answers ready for us. In the podcast itself, I explain exactly how we can and should use it for the big questions of life.
