Part one of a three part series on public education where we will look into the history of public schooling as well as arguments for and against it. Today we look into a CATO article The Case Against Public Schooling. This article (poorly) discusses the valid claim that public schooling is not foundational to American Democracy and instead that public schooling has often been used as a tool to oppress and re-educate the populous for The State's purposes.
This, albeit not well written, article sets up some crucial frameworks for examining the rest of the series.
Here we discuss public education, our personal arguments for and against it, and delve into what would be a poor example of a case made against public schooling.
Part two will center around a deeper history of public education.
Part three will return to the case against public education but from a more convincing standpoint
