The Upreneur podcast has partnered up with SCORE, hosted by Jeremy Straub, to help bring engaging conversations with today’s top leaders and business owners. In today’s episode, we spoke with Austin Wright & David Shoham, Co-Founders of The California Beach Co, about transparency being key to their partnership, having the never give up till you make it attitude, and that the journey to success is never over, you can either quit or pivot.

Co-Founder The California Beach Co.: Austin Wright

Austin Wright is a seasoned entrepreneur, originally from Atlanta, GA, with a passion for creating best-in-class products and services.

His early career began in the fitness industry in 2003 and he quickly advanced to the Regional Vice President level of a large multinational health club chain, overseeing 1,500+ employees and $50M+ in revenue. He started his eCommerce journey in 2016 and is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the brand he co-founded, The California Beach Co.

Along with 17+ years of business experience, he has an insatiable appetite for growing and learning every day (currently enrolled in Harvard Business School’s CORe program).

Now residing in Austin, TX, he has been happily married for over 8 years and his 6-year-old son, Michael Henry, is the joy of his life.

Co-Founder of The California Beach Co.: David Shoham

David Shoham is originally from Atlanta, GA, and has lived in London, New York City, Los Angeles, and has recently settled down in Naples, Florida with his wife and five-year-old son.

Ever since he was young, he’s always seen himself as a visionary and a leader. An “aspiring entrepreneur”, David always had big dreams and goals, and he would create little gadgets and write down ideas but didn’t yet know how to bring those ideas to life.

He spent 25 years in the hospitality business, working as a Bar Manager / Mixologist and Consultant, and eventually worked his way up to General Manager and Director of Operations for Malibu Farm. He opened restaurants from the ground up for businesses such as The Four Seasons, Nobu, and Rosewood Miramar. He simultaneously started his e-commerce business while working full-time.

After 5 years and many lessons learned, all of his persistence, late nights, and hard work paid off and he was able to go full time in his own business. He enjoys the beach, traveling, playing and coaching basketball, hikes, and all things outdoors.  David has never stopped dreaming and is very excited for the journey that is just beginning.
