Campbell McGlynn, IRT Group, discusses EI at work in aged care.

EI at Work

Mar 31 2021 • 29 mins

Campbell McGlynn, Executive GM People & Culture, at leading aged care provider IRT Group reveals the immense emotional labour of the aged care industry, and how in just 6 months emotional intelligence has already made a mark.

The Aged Care sector is responsible for the care of over 1.3 million Australians. However, there has been growing concern and widespread reporting on inadequate quality of care and safety. In 2018, the Australian Government established the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. Its final report has revealed harrowing information on the dire state of the sector. It has confirmed issues such as poor workplace conditions, understaffing and abuse, making it clearer than ever that the industry is failing its vulnerable customers and workforce.
