How I Use Deep Work to Get Stuff Made | Jim Kroft

The Jim Kroft Podcast

Dec 2 2023 • 21 mins

Hello and welcome to the "The Jim Kroft Podcast", where I explore creative life and one-person businesses.

In today's episode, I dive into the world of 'Deep Work' inspired by Cal Newport's book, sharing how it has transformed my creative working life.

It's a particularly busy period for me as I juggle;

-  End-of-year client jobs in film and photography
-  Completing the edit of my new documentary, "The Isolation Diaries"
-  Keeping up with my paid newsletter on Substack
-  Researching my weekly guest on the Podcast
-  Preparing the vinyl and artwork for my new album

Without knowing my daily process intimately, I'd have no chance to keep up.
Today, I explore a very personal take on:

  1. The Concept of "Deep Work"
  2. Concentration as a Superpower
  3. Choosing Your Attitude
  4. Setting Objectives and Deadlines
  5. Strategies for Getting in the Zone
  6. Completing Long-Term Projects

There are also some sound effects and music (all mine!) as I continue to develop my "voice" and style with these solo episodes.

Finally, I wanted to say thank you as we AGAIN entered the Apple Charts last week! If you have a moment to leave a review and rating - it would be so very appreciated.

Have a great day and see you in a fortnight,

Jim
