During Asanté's career as a School Resource Officer (SRO) in an urban school district on the verge of a state takeover, he discovered his passion for empowering Black youth. He became the schools’ football coach, role model, and mentor. This was a front row seat into the battle Black youth were facing: a broken school system, broken homes, and broken communities. In efforts to create a solution, he founded Black Men of Valor to create a haven where Black men could establish a brotherhood built on mentorship, career development, and progressive deliberations.

In 2020, Black Men of Valor made a transition of impact and became Black Men & Women of Valor, Inc. Today, Black Men & Women of Valor is committed to empowering underserved and disadvantaged transitional youth through comprehensive mentorship and strategic career development.
