65. Starting Dexamfetamine for ADHD (A Personal Review)
In this episode we discuss starting on ADHD medication Dexamfetamine. If you are a regular listener, you’ll probably familiar with Shell’s ADHD medication journey so far, and although she has not had much success on the previous medications that she’s tried Shell is hoping dexamfetamine is the one that makes a difference. It’s Shell’s second week on dexamfetamine, so we explore how she’s been feeling, all positives, the negatives and what the overall experience on Dex has been like so far We’ll update you on Shell's journey in future episodes as time goes on . See you next week for another episode of shenanigan and ramblings! * If your wanting to know what it feels like on other ADHD medications, please check out our other episodes on Vyvanse and Concerta. This is a personal  medication review, not everyone will react to medication the same, so if you have any concerns about the current medication you are taking please talk to you prescriber.Dexamfetamine is a medication that belongs to the class of central nervous system stimulants. It is similar in structure and effects to dextroamphetamine, and is also used primarily to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) Dexamfetamine works by increasing the levels of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, such as dopamine and norepinephrine, which help to regulate attention and other ADHD symptoms.Episode resourcesThis website has loads of information on what to take to your GP should you be in the process of needing to see someone about ADHDhttps://www.adhdadult.uk/List of symptoms, diagnostic criteria for ADHD and further information:https://www.qandadhd.com/diagnostic-criteriaIf you identify with 5 symptoms on each list often, it may be something you want to speak to your doctor about. We upload a new episode every Sunday evening. Our Socialswww.adopaminekick.comFollow us on Instagramwww.instagram.com/adopaminekickLike us on Facebookwww.facebook.com/adopaminekickEmail us: adopaminekick@gmail.com

63. Discussing All Things ADHD with MRS ADHD (Sam Brown) From The ADHD Adults Podcast
This week we had the absolute pleasure to sit and talk to Mrs ADHD herself (Sam Brown) from the ADHD Adult's UK Podcast! In this episode we discussed Sam’s rollercoaster story, her late ADHD diagnosis, what having ADHD means to her, how hormones can affect ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Hyperfocus, Medication, Diet and just about anything else related to ADHD that popped into all of our heads😅This episode is much longer than our usual episodes but we had so much to talk about, it was such fun and we felt like we had known Sam all our lives so we’re keeping the full interview uncut.   Sam was full of incredibly useful daily hacks that will help anyone navigate life more smoothly if you struggle with ADHD (we actually can’t wait to start using some of them ourselves)We both can't thank Sam enough for being such an incredibly fun and inspiring guest, who made us laugh throughout the entire episode. It was such a pleasure to sit down and talk to her. We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did recording it. 62. ADHD: What Does It Mean To Hyperfocus
Feb 5 2023
62. ADHD: What Does It Mean To Hyperfocus
This week were talking about ADHD and Hyperfocus, what it is, are there any ways to combat it, and how it can have detrimental effects on peoples lives.  In this episode Shell and Sparky discuss some personal (and slightly embarrassing) hyper focus stories, because we feel it’s important to talk about this stuff to help end the stigma and hopefully make you feel less alone in your struggle. Hyper focus is like a superpower and a kryptonite all rolled into one. On one hand, it can make you super productive and focused, allowing you to get lost in a task and accomplish more than you ever thought possible. On the other hand, it can also make you procrastinate and have a hard time switching tasks. It can also make social interactions a bit tricky, as you might be so focused on a task that you don't even hear your friends talking to you to the detriment of your work, relationships and even your mental health.Check out the website below to find useful linkshttps://www.adhdadult.uk/List of symptoms, diagnostic criteria for ADHD and further information:https://www.qandadhd.com/diagnostic-criteriaIf you identify with 5 symptoms on each list often, it may be something you want to speak to your doctor about.See you next week for another episode of shenanigans! We upload a new episode every Sunday evening. Our Socialswww.adopaminekick.comFollow us on Instagramwww.instagram.com/adopaminekickLike us on Facebookwww.facebook.com/adopaminekickEmail us: adopaminekick@gmail.com

60. Taking Concerta 27mg and 36mg for ADHD (A Personal Review)
This week we're talking more about Shell's favourite topic! Medication!!!!We dive deep into Shell restarting Concerta, how it made her feel, what positive effects she had, what negative side effects she experienced and ultimately why she has decided to stop taking Concerta for good!We also waffle on about the absolute drama that happened at a recent Seed talk we attended, and Sparky gives us an update on how his NHS ADHD referral and  overall journey is going so far, which to be honest can only be be summed up so far in one word 'disastrous!'Please keep in mind this is a personal medication review about Concerta and doesn't  necessarily mean this is how the medication would make you feel. Everybody responds to all medications differently. If you are experiencing any of the side effects Shell mentioned in this episode speak to your health care provider. 58. Discussing All Things Elvanse/Vyvanse With Dr Alex Conner From The ADHD Adults Podcast
This week we have a VERY SPECIAL guest! We've been banging on about having guests on the podcast for ages and.... we finally did it. Our guest this week is none other than Alex Conner co- founder of https://www.adhdadult.uk/ and one half of the ADHD Adults Podcast. It was such an honor for us both to talk to Alex (Sparky when he had the chance because Shell was like a kid at Christmas) and also having him deal with our seriously unprofessional behaviour. It's a miracle it even happened to be honest, but we're both so grateful for his time and his personal reflections. We managed to quiz him on our ADHD nuances, Shells neurotic tendencies and discuss ADHD medication, is it safe? and discuss Alex's personal reflection on his experience with Vyvanse/ Elvanse. (Lisdexamfetamine) so far. Thanks for listening to us ramble! If your interested in attending the Seed talks mentioned, here's the link below. 55. Maladaptive Daydreaming and ADHD (What Is It?)
Everybody drifts off into a daydream from time to time, but for people with ADHD constant daydreaming can be a problem (and as usual it’s a big problem for us)This week we're putting a name to it... and we're taking about Maladaptive Daydreaming, what it is and why we do it. 54. How Our ADHD Affects Christmas - And How Yours Can Be Better
It’s almost Christmasssssss!! And whilst we both absolutely love Christmas,  for those of us who suffer with ADHD the festive period can be a highly stressful time. Christmas requires a lot of executive planning,  and well…. we all know - we’re useless at that. In this episode we’ll be discussing our personal Christmas chaos stories and what we’re going to do this year to help manage our ADHD symptoms to be have a better more relaxed Christmas! Any tips or advice you have for us - please contact us below! Thanks for listening to us ramble! Episode resourcesThis website has loads of information on what to take to your GP should you be in the process of needing to see someone about ADHDhttps://www.adhdadult.uk/List of symptoms, diagnostic criteria for ADHD and further information:https://www.qandadhd.com/diagnostic-criteriaIf you identify with 5 symptoms on each list often, it may be something you want to speak to your doctor about.See you next week for another episode of shenanigans!
