Catherine Huff interviews Dr. Russell Toll, Dr. Andy Czysz, and Dr. Madhukar Trivedi in this episode "All About TMS." TMS is the acronym for transcranial magnetic stimulation. But what does that mean? How is it used as treatment for depression, and why does it work? Listen as the experts discuss.

Andrew Czysz, MD, PhD, is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the CDRC and UTSW’s outpatient psychiatry clinic. His research focuses on biomarker discovery for depression, as well as understanding and developing new treatments for mood and substance use disorders. In his clinical practice, Dr. Czysz evaluates and treats patients with treatment-resistant depression using innovative approaches including transcranial magnetic stimulation.

Russell Toll, PhD, is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the CDRC who serves as the research lead for the CDRC’s Electroencephalography (EEG) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS-EEG) programs. As a US Army combat veteran of the Iraq War, Dr. Toll works on solutions to depression and PTSD through his research on connectivity topographies of mood disorders.
