Does hope weave itself into your life daily? I would love to share one of my recent messages from our home church as we take a little holiday break here at the Parable Podcast. Don’t worry Our parable stories resume next week, but in the meantime, please enjoy this message on hope wherever it may find you today.

Sermon Notes

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." - Ferris Bueller

Finding Awaited Hope

So I wait for the Eternal—my soul awaits rescue—and I put my hope in His transforming word. My soul waits for the Lord to break into the world, …O Israel, ground your hope in the Eternal. For in the Eternal lives the most loyal love, and with Him comes the most abundant redemption. Psalms 130:5-7

Qavah means to wait actively with anticipation, hopefully watching for God to act.

My soul waits for the Lord to break into the world….O Israel, ground your hope in the Eternal.

Finding newfound hope

Gaining hope, I remember and wait for this thought: How enduring is God’s loyal love; the Eternal has inexhaustible compassion. Here they are, every morning, new! Lamentations 3:21-23

Finding Borrowed hope

“We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go. Hebrews 6:18 Message

Hebrew feminine translation of Qavah is Tikvah which is described as combining multiple of strands and coiling those into a single, much stronger cable – Something you can grab hold of.

“In the face of adversity and pain, we can grab ahold of this promise. And we can cling to ‘tikvah’… which acts as a cord that tethers us to God’s throne when we don’t have the capacity to see a different type of future. – Joy Flores

Reflection Questions

  1. Take a few minutes to think and journal about past, present, and future hopes.  How has God been in your past, and currently, and how he will be there in the future for you?
