Jeremy Collins from the Theonomoney podcast joins me on this second installment of a two-part series on theonomy and taxation. Go over to the Theonomoney podcast and check out part 1 on Theonomy as we set the stage for the discussion on taxation.
When it comes to taxation, the three main questions that need to be answered are (1) who has the authority and jurisdiction to levy taxes, (2) how much taxation is permissible, and (3) what method of taxation would be most compatible with a Biblical society (flat vs progressive)? We discuss the Biblical passages that seem to address taxation and talk through the pros and cons (mainly cons) of common types of taxes in modern society.
