Immigrant Entrepreneur: Laila Pence

Laila was born in Egypt and had a great upbringing, but when war broke out when she was 9 years old she nearly died. She escaped a bomb that landed in her room shortly after escaping with her family. After that, her life completely changed forever. Laila had to be separated from her family and live with her grandmother for a period of time, go to a French school and that was the worst year of her life.

Her dad finally filed papers to move to the States but a month before the departure, he broke his leg and wasn't able to go. Laila and her mom moved to New York with and lived with a family, renting a one bedroom.

They had extremely humble beginnings, she was selling hot dogs at the Staten Island after school as well as her mom. She would've never imagined being where she's at right now; wealthy, a multimillionaire, all because she opened up her own wealth management firm at the age of 22.

Her journey to success is quite astonishing. She's been featured in lots of lists in Forbes and Barron's and dominates the wealth management market.
