Dr. Michele Finneran Guides, "My book examines how formal and informal supports and services mitigate the damaging (and sometimes fatal) social cost of domestic abuse. Highlighting victims’ perceptions of support through in person interviews with survivors of domestic abuse, useful feedback and identification of what support and services were deemed effective and helpful in victims’ attempts to abolish their abusive relationships can be deducted.

In writing my book, my goal was not only to address the systemic need for changes in working with the population of victims of domestic abuse, but to also make this book ideal for a broad range of professional communities, including, but not limited to, psychologists, social workers, law enforcement organizations, nonprofit organizations and, of course, victims and survivors themselves. Most importantly, it serves as a tool for students (undergraduate and graduate) studying domestic abuse and prevention."
