Asking for Help is Hard

Asking for Help is Hard
Asking for help is hard. Whether your needs are physical or emotional, it can be challenging to express them and to receive support.Hurricane Helene brought devastation to Western North Carolina. There's no way to live here and not need help with something. Even though there are so many people generously offering support of all kinds, it's very difficult for some to receive it.In this episode, Adina shares what Helene helped her discover about herself and she explores how prior life circumstances can affect a sense of trust and worthiness, which affect the capacity to receive and attract abundance. She invites you to consider the following questions to explore your own levels of receptivity:1. How well are you able to accept a compliment? Do you tend to brush them off or deflect them? If so, why?2. How well are you able to receive gifts? By contrast, how does it feel to be the gift giver? If you notice any discomfort with either of these, describe how you feel. What feels uncomfortable to you? Can you identify an underlying belief that drives that discomfort? (for example, I’m not worthy or I’ll get it wrong)3. How does it feel to ask for help? When is it easy to do? When is it hard?4. How does it feel to receive a kindness without returning the favor? How able are you to trust that people don’t expect or want anything back from you?5. If you notice any discomfort arise around receiving a compliment, a gift or something for nothing--try to identify the part of self that discomfort is originating from. Can you detect an age or underlying beliefs?Whether or not you're dealing with the catastrophe of Helene, this episode encourages you to explore how able you are to embrace abundance.Support the showIf you enjoyed this episode, please share it!
