Victims of Love: A Pre-valentine Episode

Being Young, Average And a Nigerian

Feb 7 2023 • 3 mins

There's a line from the lyrics of a song I recently heard It says we're all victims of love. I believe, some how even without being taught, We know it deep down, We cannot escape falling into love's trap. Instead we do what all humans do When we suspect the risk of danger We act cold. We try to shield ourselves . We run. But how far can we run? And for how long? We cannot truly escape . Love is built into our beings, So much so that the lack of that selfless desire Or of someone to share it with Leaves us feeling empty. We crave love from family, From Friends , From a romantic partner , Rich or poor, old or young, sane or insane, We are linked by this one desire, We all want to give and receive love. We crave the euphoria that comes with drinking love's wine. That sweet warm liquid leaves our toes tingling and brings us to our knees, Just a sip, and we're hooked, We can't let go We ignore barriers... A mother and her sick child. A wife and her dying husband. A Friend to another with a serious attitude issue. Christ to a perverse world. When we love, it's irrational Devoid of reason and sense, We cannot explain it Is it because we are wired this way? Is the fear of loneliness the reason that Keep us trying to find the perfect one? Is love flawed? Or are we? CREATED BY: Prosper Peters. WRITTEN BY: Bella Ojoka. VOICED BY: VoicedbyQueency.
