Last week, 11-year-old Froylan Villegas was killed outside a AAA baseball stadium in Albuquerque when an unknown gunman opened fire on the car he and his family were riding in.

In response, New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham issued a 30-day gun ban in public spaces in Albuquerque. The measure has drawn backlash from both Democrats and Republicans, and lawsuits over the order's constitutionality are already being filed.
