Rachel Wolfson sat down with Kristen Hecht, deputy chief compliance and global money laundering reporting officer at Binance – the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange –- to discuss crypto compliance, regulations and more. Kristen also discusses her traditional finance background, explaining how this led her into the Web3 space.

This week's guest:

Kristen brings over 17 years of experience with her to Binance’s compliance team. Her background includes working for nearly a decade on US government efforts to combat illicit financial activity as a Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. In addition, Kristen also spent many years in financial crime compliance in the global banking and crypto wallet industries, including Head of Financial Crime Compliance for HSBC in China during HSBC’s Deferred Prosecution Agreement, and the Chief Compliance Officer at Meta’s Crypto asset wallet project. Kristen received her M.A. in International Policy Studies from the Monterey Institute of International Studies and started her career as a Presidential Management Fellow in the U.S. Department of State before joining the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Kristen is a fluent French speaker and has dabbled in a number of other languages, including Mandarin.
