Welcome to season 6 of Simpin After Dark!

Today I’m talkin about Ari Lennox’s newest album, age/sex/location, focusing on the songs: “POF”, “Waste My Time”, “Boy Bye (Ft. Lucky Daye)”, “Leak it (Ft. Chlöe)”, “Blocking You”, & “Queen Space (Ft. Summer Walker”. It’s all about the transitional space of growth and self-love that most of us go through at some point in our healing journey. It’s normal and natural to crave love and connection but learning to get past being desperate is important if we want to find healthy relationships.

Ari sings about dealing with players and sweet talkers and learning to see through the bullsh*t in order to avoid unnecessary f*ckery. You gotta know what real love is by starting with yourself, in order to seek it out from others. The album wraps up with Ari standing her ground and learning to cut off anything that’s messing with her peace, and by acknowledging that her love and presence is a privilege that not just anyone should be able to access.

That’s the beauty of stepping into your healing journey, is that you can be confident in your standards and what you deserve. Queens don’t bite their tongue about their needs and if you can’t speak up in your relationship then we need to talk!
