Episode 108: How to Optimize Health and Holistic Medicine with Dr. Bisma Gowani
In this interview episode, I sit down with Dr. Bisma Gowani who is a gut health specialist, helping women find the root cause of their digestive discomfort.Inspired by her mother who has a passion for helping others, she followed in her footsteps and completed Podiatric Medical school. It was during that time that she also picked up weightlifting. It became a passion of hers, helping her mentally and physically overcome challenges. While working as a medical practitioner, Bisma was also competing as a bodybuilder, in attempts to better connect and understand her body. She was suffering from a dysregulated nervous system, multiple gut issues, binge eating, anorexia depression, anxiety, you name it. After years of feeling like a lab rat,  trialing various medications that provided no relief, she began to lose hope. Bisma was at her lowest point when something in her finally changed. One day, in the car before work, she began meditating when she heard her mom's voice say, "If there's a will, there's a way.” She’d repeat that to me as a child whenever she heard me making excuses. It was at that moment that she decided to take matters into her own hands and she knew that getting to the root cause of the issue was the only way to make a lasting change.Sure, medication might help, but most likely as a temporary solution and this was ongoing for far too long. She had to reevaluate other aspects of her health and how she was treating her body as a whole. Taking ownership of the necessary changes to allow healing to take place, Bisma is now in a place to show others how to heal their bodies on a similar path with combined medical and holistic strategies to provide immediate treatment and prevention to any signs of disease or discomfort in the body.  You can find more information about Bisma and her upcoming online programs and services being offered starting in May of 2024, through her website www.nutrimdwellness.com as well as her social media page, @drbismagowani on Instagram.
