Ep 25 / Phillip North: Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim
Welcome to the Lace Up and Run Podcast. We believe in a fun and active lifestyle with a primary focus on running and hiking. There is a supply of bourbon in the podcast studio so there is pretty much a guarantee there might be some of Kentucky's finest consumed during the show.Episode 25:Our guest on the show is Adventure & Ultra runner Phillip North. Phillip shares his story of running/power hiking Rim to Rim to Rim - a 48 mile journey through the Grand Canyon on April 13th. It's really two adventures rolled into one story. The 1st adventure details the planning and coordinating leading up to. Everything from forgetting his running shorts, trying to catch a bus that doesn't start running its route until May, needing to sleep in his car because his time share was 2.5 hours away, and underestimating the weather down inside the canyon. The 2nd adventure details the actual running of Rim to Rim to Rim with a total time of 16:51 and a total moving time of 12:18. Through the breathtaking views and challenging 11,000 feet of elevation gain, Phillip was able to “Go fast enough to get there, but slow enough to see.”Before talking about the great aforementioned adventure, we spent some time talking about his first time as a Race Director with the Red Cedar Half Marathon Trail Run at Giant City State Park. Make sure you look for the 2023 version of the event if interested in jumping in on the fun next year!#PushYourLimits Register for Shawnee Hills: use code "rtssave10" for a discountWebsite: runtosucceedsports.comFacebook: @runtosucceedInstagram: @runtosucceedEmail: LaceUpandRunPodcast@gmail.comContact Lace Up and RunWebsite: runtosucceedsports.comFacebook: @RTSOutfittersMarion & @RTSOutfittersPaducahOur Facebook Run Group: RTS RunnersInstagram: @RTSOutfittersEmail: LaceUpandRunPodcast@gmail.comConsider leaving us a review on Spotify or Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcastsThanks for listening!Lace em' up and get after it!

Ep 16 / Morgan Davis Part 2 / Tackling the Difficult Pinhoti 100 & More
Welcome to the Lace Up and Run Podcast. We believe in a fun and active lifestyle with a primary focus on running and hiking. There is a supply of bourbon in the podcast studio so there is pretty much a guarantee there might be some of Kentucky's finest consumed during the show.Love having Morgan Davis on the show. There is always so much running information to uncover, but not enough time to get to it all. Morgan talks about her experience at the No Business 100 in the Big South Fork Recreation Area. Despite the technical terrain and over 14,500 feet of gain, she finished 5th overall female. Morgan ran the Cloudland Canyon 50K two months after No Business. The race is held in Georgia and despite navigating 4,500 feet of gain, she accomplished a 8th overall female finish.Morgan and I went back a few years and talked about her experience at the Barkley Fall Classic at the famed Frozen Head State Park. Morgan will be tackling the very difficult Pinhoti 100 in November. "Only recommended for very experienced adventurers" is all that needs to be said.  What powers Morgan through these ultra races?  My guess is it must be the Fireball!Website: runtosucceedsports.comFacebook: @runtosucceedInstagram: @runtosucceedContact Lace Up and RunWebsite: runtosucceedsports.comFacebook: @RTSOutfittersMarion & @RTSOutfittersPaducahOur Facebook Run Group: RTS RunnersInstagram: @RTSOutfittersEmail: LaceUpandRunPodcast@gmail.comConsider leaving us a review on Spotify or Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcastsThanks for listening!Lace em' up and get after it!
