The pumpkin juice is flowing and the Malort is conspicuously absent as we talk about this modern kid's classic directed by absolutely no one at all, hitting on the film's amazing cinematography by an industry legend, the book's heavier percentage of Axe Murderer Content, the fragile balance between jokes for kids and jokes for everyone, and the oeuvre of Jack Black's many beards.
