Exploring AI's Impact on Law with Dhruva Krishna, Associate Attorney at Winston & Strawn LLP
This episode of The Millennicast features an interview with Dhruva Krishna, an Associate Attorney at Winston & Strawn LLP.Dhruva is an associate in the firm’s Los Angeles office. His practice focuses on a broad range of corporate transactions, specifically in the areas of fund formation, investment management regulation, and emerging technology transactions. Before joining Winston & Strawn, Dhruva served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Maria A. Audero of the United States District Court in the Central District of California. He is an avid musician and writer with a deep passion for the intersection of entertainment, technology, and corporate transactions. In this episode, Dhruva talks about modern changes in the legal profession including the introduction of artificial intelligence to the legal sector, the value that human lawyers provide as an ethical liability shield against ChatGPT and other AI, and provides advice for aspiring lawyers entering the space.—Guest Quotes“I think that AI can do a lot of the background, quote, unquote, office admin work really well, right? I think if you're a Junior Associate and you're like, okay, I need to pull every single fair use case in California that relates to, say, copyright infringement and mutual composition, great, let's use AI. But then when you start thinking about, well, ‘how do I convince a jury of my peers to actually take my argument, or how do I convince the person across a deal for me to bend on this point or that point?’ That is something that is almost just a human thing. That'll be very hard for AI to replicate.” - Dhruva Krishna—Episode Timestamps(00:00) Introduction(01:50) Dhruva’s background(02:51) Modern changes in the legal profession(07:46) Introducing artificial intelligence to the legal sector(16:18) The value of lawyers as an ethical liability shield against AI(19:33) Advice for aspiring lawyers entering the space(23:09) The future of regulating AI in law(25:58) Dhruva’s daily routine(28:08) Outro—LinksConnect with Dhruva on LinkedInConnect with Ruben on LinkedInThe Millennicast—For more engaging and inspiring talks like these or if you’d simply like to reach out, visit “themillennicast.buzzsprout.com”. Data Protection and the Regulation of Big Tech

Data Protection and the Regulation of Big Tech
For this episode I will be speaking to Ian Ballon about Data Protection regulation in the modern age. Ian is a practicing U.S. attorney, IP and internet litigator, and Co-Chair of U.S. law firm Greenberg Traurig’s Global Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group. Ian is also author of the five-volume treatise, E-commerce and Internet law: Treatise With Forms. In addition, he serves as the Executive Director of Stanford University Law School’s Center for the Digital Economy. We will be discussing the increased attention afforded to data protection since the rise of “Big Tech” firms such as Amazon, Facebook, Google, Apple, to name but a few.  The U.S.’s approach to antitrust law (commonly known as competition law in the EU) will also serve as an interesting and relevant aspect to this debate by discussing the extent to which privacy ought to serve as a “non-price” element in antitrust analysis. The U.S. has also recently been privy to the adoption of EU GDPR-style privacy legislation through a patchwork of laws, with the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA) serving as the most robust and authoritative one to date. How likely the chance is, and how effective it is, for the U.S. to adopt federal privacy legislation in order to steer away from its current “patchwork” of data privacy regulation will shed light on what a potential future trajectory of data protection regulation will look like. For more engaging and inspiring talks like these or if you’d simply like to reach out, visit “themillennicast.buzzsprout.com”.
