A Simple Way to Set Difficult Boundaries
Brene Brown, renowned Shame Researcher, has a wonderful boundary mantra: "say yes to discomfort and no to resentment".In today's episode I am sharing my experience with the silent boundary method. This method was something I started about 5 years ago and it has worked miracles in my relationships, especially the one I have with myself.To achieve the Silent Boundary Method, we need to normalise three things:1) Saying no without justification and extra details2) Creating space before giving an answer IE "I'll need to check some things and if it's a yes, I'll come back to you"3) Letting the other person have their response - disappointment, anger, upset; without taking it on board ~ this is by far the hardest, but if we learn to accept and expect this, we won't see other people's response as proof that we can't set boundaries.Tune in now to hear this week's episode ♡If this episode has resonated, tune in to EP 34 that I recorded on Boundaries, Stress and Wholehearted Living.
