Lessons in the Leaves |  Did you know the Bible begins and ends with people around the Tree of Life? Did you know that both Jesus and Jonah cursed a fig tree? Did you know that Ezekiel uses the word ‘tree’ 31 times?! As the spring starts to warm up and we find ourselves spending more time outside, let’s see what we can learn from the leaves. This episode features special guest, Reverend Cullen Tanner. Cullen is currently the Technology and Ministry Specialist for the MN Annual Conference. He uses his background as a pastor, church planter, youth director, and worship leader to inform his work in equipping churches for digital ministry. Cullen was the planter and pastor at Roots & Branches in Anoka until this past September. He will be starting as the new pastor at Champlin UMC on June 30. The Lord's Prayer is one of those special passages of Scripture. It's arguably the most memorized portion of the Bible, while also being one of the most scrutinized. The first line of the prayer has been a point of tension and a recitation of comfort. Often in the first century, disciples would ask a Rabbi how to pray. Not because they didn't know how to pray, but because how a Rabbi prayed spoke to their theology and understanding of God. Exploring the prayer of Jesus has much to teach us about how we know God and how we live out this faith. _____ and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
