For years I have been taught that the punishment for eating from the tree of the knowledge of good & evil was God kicking Adam and Eve out of the garden of Eden, but what if God was actually RESCUING them by removing them?

In Genesis 3 God kicks Adam and Eve out of the garden. Was God punishing Adam and Eve by removing them from the garden of Eden OR... or could it have been God's provision for a way out of sin lasting forever?
