Our Editor's Take

Weight Loss for Busy Physicians offers methods for losing and keeping weight off. This podcast is not about a lose-weight-quick approach or a fad diet or lifestyle. Host Dr. Katrina Ubell offers practical ways anyone can use for permanent weight loss. The podcast may be for doctors, but anyone with a busy life can adopt the principles Dr. Ubell teaches. The pediatrician-turned-life coach provides life-changing advice many have found helpful. The host shares ways people can build a healthy relationship with food.

Dr. Ubell once struggled with weight loss. Then, she found a way to break the repetitive circle of drastic weight loss and weight gain. According to the podcast host, she gained and lost around 40 pounds at least ten times before her breakthrough. Today, she's at her happy weight and has been sharing the tools she used to reach that point.

The host is also a master-certified life coach who offers brain-based solutions. Her coaching programs have risen in popularity among doctors and non-physicians. She started Weight Loss for Busy Physicians in 2017.

Coming from a clinical background, Dr. Ubell knows a doctor's struggle. Physicians face job fatigue and dissatisfaction, which may lead to depersonalization while working. Research has shown that these negatives have an impact on public healthcare. Physicians themselves are also at risk, with female physicians more likely to experience job fatigue or stress. Stress leads to overeating, unhealthy crash diets, or emotional eating. This is where the host steps in to help through her website and this podcast.

Various guests join Dr. Ubell on the podcast to discuss their relationship with food. Guests include mental health and lifestyle coaches, doctors, and other practitioners.

The weight loss coach shares tips and insights for breaking unhealthy eating patterns. She illustrates how one can rethink eating. She teaches that it's not about resisting temptation. Dr. Ubell shares how reframing one's relationship with food is the key to keeping the extra pounds off. Overall she makes clear Weight Loss for Busy Physicians is not only for doctors. New episodes come out weekly and are about 30 minutes long.

Self-Investment and Leadership with Erin Aquin & Steve Haase, Part 2
Welcome back for Part 2 of our conversation with Erin Aquin and Steve Haase. In this episode, we’re talking about leadership. They’re bringing their experience to the table to walk you through some of the most important leadership skills and how to learn them.Erin Aquin and Steve Haase are the co-founders of Superabound, a coaching company that helps business owners and leaders create a life and business that aligns with their unique vision. Self-Investment and Leadership with Erin Aquin & Steve Haase, Part 1
Do you struggle to make self-care a priority in your busy schedule? What if there was a better way to think about self-care that made it easier to integrate into your life?I sat down with Erin Aquin & Steve Haase to hear what they had to say about taking care of yourself from a leadership perspective and making self-care doable and accessible, even for the busiest doctors. One of the reasons we’re talking about this on the Weight Loss for Busy Physicians podcast is that taking proper care of yourself can help you solve some of the problems you’re relying on food to help you with right now. When you have appropriate tools to handle challenging areas of your life, food gets to just be food. Erin Aquin and Steve Haase are the co-founders of Superabound, a coaching company that helps business owners and leaders create a life and business that aligns with their unique vision. They are both Master Certified Life Coaches and co-authors of the upcoming book, tentatively titled Superabound: How to Live the Life the Universe is Dreaming for You. Topics covered in this episode include:A different way to think about self-care Doing things that are supportive of you and your body What the Tending Triad is If you’re interested in the type of self-care that doesn’t feel like yet another thing on your to-do list, tune in. I know it was mine for a while. Let’s break down what’s happening when you get the Sunday Scaries, or work dread, and see if there’s a way you can prevent it. I learned about the concept of Sunday Scaries when I was trying to figure out why I often stayed up way too late, even though I knew it wasn’t good for me. In this episode of Weight Loss for Busy Physicians, I’m sharing some simple but important steps you can take to get rid of that work dread and actually enjoy your whole week.Topics covered in this episode include:What percentage of the population experiences Sunday Scaries How to break the Sunday Scaries cycleFinding the cause of your Sunday Scaries Let me help you shake the Sunday Scaries and work dread once and for all.
