It’s Time to Heal Your Inner Child with Kelly Zaragoza, LPC
Kelly is the owner and Clinical Director of Via Counseling + Consulting. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with individuals and couples. Her counseling style focuses on using her clients' strengths to achieve their desired outcomes. Kelly emphasizes a collaborative therapist-client relationship to truly understand her clients’ needs. She believes that each person has a unique story to tell, and by working together, Kelly and her clients develop strategies to achieve emotional and mental health goals.
In this episode, Mathew and Kelly discuss how healing inner child wounds is the key to unlocking the life you truly want to live. Kelly explains what reprocessing is, why it’s important to examine triggering events from a new perspective, and the work that follows this realization. This work will look different for everyone, but it leads to a deeper understanding of patterns and ultimately illuminates the path forward. From the day we are born, everything we experience gets recorded, and we have to learn to live with the impact it has on us.
Mathew and Kelly explore childhood wounds, the defense mechanisms we developed around them, why they formed, and ways to start the healing process. They also discuss how to manage the inevitable and complex emotions that arise around the people who raised us, with compassion. Kelly offers advice on dealing with individuals in our lives who may be resistant to change when we decide to heal ourselves.
Once we stop pointing fingers outward, we can realize that both our problems and our power come from within.
