Join us on this week’s Black Doctors Talk Podcast which features our guest, Dr. Keesha Karriem. Dr. Karriem speaks to us on the topic of how to turn opposition into opportunities and creating a space to succeed, being a vessel to support others’ purpose, empowerment through representation, identity trust, and honesty, and emotional intelligence in the workplace. Dr. Karriem is a best-selling author, entrepreneur, government worker, and college professor.

During the podcast, Dr. Karriem shares how working as a government worker for decades does equate to a full-filled life. Being able to create space and opportunities has allowed her to share knowledge and serving the needs of those who are less fortunate has provided priceless moments of fulfillment. Running a family owned business that cares for adults with disabilities continues her mother’s work and has allowed her to be a willing vessel to spread love.  In addition, Dr. Karriem’s work with emotional intelligence has shown how EI contributes to significant life outcomes, such as better decision making and improved learning skills. She discusses the relevance and implication of EI in the workplace among leaders considering the shift in how and where the American workforce perform their roles due to the global pandemic.

Dr. Karriem obtained her Doctorate Degree from University of Phoenix and completed her dissertation on Stress and Emotional Intelligence (EI). After becoming an aunt of two beautiful twin girls she decided to create inspiring books that teach both young and old about Emotional Intelligence, diversity, values: and those with special needs. Dr. Karriem was born and continues to live in the Chicago area.
