Our Editor's Take

Monday Morning Mindset Shift is a motivational podcast to start the week. The host is Jaime Filer, a personal coach passionate about physical and mental health. After a decade of suffering from an eating disorder, she finally found the courage to change her life. Jaime has competed as a bodybuilder and works as a trainer, focusing on the LGBTQIA+ community.

Each episode of the Monday Morning Mindset Shift shares advice to help people transform their lives for success. Jamie talks about everything from the effects of dopamine to achieving peace of mind. The host always speaks with passion, determination, and strong self-worth.

One episode explores "The Principle of Auto Suggestion." This strategy is from 20th-century self-help author Napoleon Hill. It's a technique used in self-hypnosis. It's the idea that one's subconscious mind can guide their thoughts and behaviors. Jaime talks about how bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger used visualization for his achievements.

In the podcast episode, Jaime encourages listeners to take time to think about what they want. It's this part that she believes is most critical. When someone wants a relationship, it may be more about a desire to be significant. So, people need to try and understand what they actually want.

In "How to Beat the Fear Monster," Jaime talks about how to overcome fear. She shares ten ways people can try and feel less fearful. One is about visualizing one's happy place. Another talks about the myth of perfection. Jaime shares the pressure she experienced from her mother when she was growing up. She also talks about ensuring that the five people one spends the most time with are the right five. It's about having encouraging voices to help during moments of fear and uncertainty.

Jaime speaks with experience and assurance, providing actionable steps to improve one's mindset. She refers to experts for their inspiration throughout. These include names like Professor Brené Brown on the topic of vulnerability. This makes the Monday Morning Mindset Shift a confident-boosting listen.

Will it Make Your Boat Go Faster?
"Every action you take is a vote for the person you want to become." - James ClearThe British rowing team had not won a gold medal since 1912. By all measures, they didn’t have a good rowing program. Then something changed. In anticipation of the 2000 Sydney Olympics, the team developed a useful strategy that changed everything. They went from being an average rowing team to winning Olympic Gold. They developed a one-question response to EVERY SINGLE DECISION they made. This one question allowed them to measure every situation, decision, and obstacle — and to not get derailed where most people do.With every decision or opportunity, every member of the team asked themselves: WILL IT MAKE THE BOAT GO FASTER?Example: you get invited to a late night party the night before training. WILL IT MAKE THE BOAT GO FASTER?If the answer is no… then the decision is no.Tempted to eat a doughnut? WILL IT MAKE THE BOAT GO FASTER?The British rowing team used this single question — a profound implementation intention — to quickly escalate their unity, skills, conditioning, and training. They destroyed their competition and won GOLD.Going forward, think about your core values. Your priorities. With every decision you make, do you consider whether you're acting in line with those values and priorities? Are you making your own boat go faster?Would love to have you join the conversation on IG: instagram.com/jaim91Or come hang in my Facebook group: www.facebook.com/groups/teamjaim91
