His historical work includes refreshing classic hits, primarily for Pride events. But his recent endeavors dive deeper into his record collection, rediscovering gems in Soul, Funk, and Disco. These have been re-imagined for modern audiences, transforming them into DJ-friendly tracks and rejuvenating them for contemporary dance floors. While enhancing the existing Ultimate Trash Disco series wasn't initially my plan, I was swayed by the irresistible charm of Barry's edits. Their melody and rhythm resonated with my musical sensibilities. Consequently, I found it worthwhile to assemble these tracks for our dedicated fanbase. Barry has been delivering these edits at a relentless pace, and while he's currently touring Australia, it's given me the time to curate this extensive set. However, his future plans remain a mystery until his next release. The track "Body Work" by Hot Streak left me intrigued. This early 80s track was new to my ears, but its infectious beat has me hooked. The remaining songs brought back memories of my childhood, obsessively tuning into AM radio and tracking the latest hits' chart movements. My fascination with music was so intense that by sixth grade, I was saving money from lawn mowing jobs to purchase the latest 45s. My passion for music remains undiminished, and I believe I share this sentiment with many others who cherish these melodic memories. Despite the inclusion of some of Barry's past remixes in this collection, be prepared for some overlap with the most popular tunes. However, rest assured, this is some exceptionally groovy stuff. 'Good Times' had been put on hold due to the remaining songs not being cohesive enough to stitch together. With some recent releases I picked up at JunoDownload, I was able to put the last nail in the genre-defying category that is DISCO. By no means is this even close to complete but the eight sets that make up this series are a damn good start to sink your teeth into and make for one helluva throwback party. I pulled in the remaining Chic classics, ensuring that Nile Rodgers and company were well represented throughout. This last set also leans heavily on its sister decade the 80's. The catchy and sophisticated 'Saturday Love' by Cherrelle, Dr. Packer's updated Gwen Guthrie classic 'Ain't Nothing Going On but the Rent' and the down and dirty funk of Lakeside's epic 'Fantastic Voyage' stitch the seams of this bulging set of disco gems from the 70's. In an effort to control bots and certain elements of society from draining my server and bandwidth, I've implemented a registration and login requirement for Party Favorz. I'm good at digging into the numbers and have zoned in on certain individuals and countries that are like vampires. If this doesn't slow them down, I'll roll out full blocks by next month. I've also updated the site icon and logo that leaves behind the grunge rendering that was so three years ago, in favor of a cleaner and modernized look. I know it's hard to get too excited about, but I spent several days designing and putting this together. Let me know what you think. Finally, I've set up ALL of the categories (DANCE, Circuit, Funky House, etc.) as their own separate entity in iTunes. For instance, if you only come here for Classic House and Divas you can subscribe to just those and they'll download into their own individual folder. At this point, I've pretty much convinced myself that Odyssey's Native New Yorker is quite possibly my all-time favorite disco anthem. At the time, I hadn't saved enough money from mowing lawns to buy my own record player yet and had to rely on my sister's which for some inextricable reason was located on a top shelf in her bedroom closet, though connected. When she wasn't there, I'd have to grab the ladder from the garage and set it up so I could listen to this 45, which I would play over and over, while imagining myself on roller skates dancing with my favorite unknown boyfriend under the disco lights. I was a weird kid for certain but often fantasized about unrealistic things about where I saw my future life. To this day, the song still conjures up those same feelings.
