Mari combs through Elaine O'Donnell's old papers and stumbles on stories of death, recorded by the mysterious Journalist, taken from the library of an Elder named "Bolden". The first story she reads is that of Sylvia Llewyn, and the mystery of Cohen cave.


"I remember the case well, when that issue of the paper went to print. A caving trip. Five people gone down into a caving system just a few hours north of Toronto… and six corpses found."
