Our Editor's Take

Girls Gotta Eat is not a podcast about diets or fine dining, although it might sound like it from the title. The Girls Gotta Eat podcast, or GGE for short, is a comedy podcast about sex and dating. Hosts Rayna Greenberg and Ashley Hesseltine get personal by sharing their own experiences. Ashley is a writer, influencer, and standup comic. Rayna is a writer and blogger with a passion for food. She also founded a website called One Hungry Jew. On it, she shares restaurant guides and her favorite food. On the podcast, the two talk about dating life on social media. It's optimistic and hilarious. It's also valuable for anyone experiencing difficulties with sex or dating.

The podcast is not all about dating dramas in this series, though. In one episode, they interview the couple behind The Skinny Confidential podcast. What started as a blog and book by Lauryn Bosstick led to a podcast series with her husband and cohost, Michael. They chat on Girls Gotta Eat about how they met, what it's like working together, and even the details of their sex lives.

There is also plenty of participation from the Girls Gotta Eat podcast listeners. One regular segment has the title "Is this weird?" In this segment, they read emails from listeners. They write about experiencing something strange when dating. It's not about shaming anyone but building everyone's confidence. In one episode, they talk about being a "mama's boy." Therapist Whitney Goodman joins to share her views on the mother and son relationship. Not only do listeners get to hear from a psychotherapist on the subject. They also get to listen to a funny story from a listener about a birthday dinner that became known as "Clam Gate."

Girls Gotta Eat is a funny female-oriented podcast that everyone can enjoy.

The Truth About Millennials with Kate Kennedy
We are so excited to have the queen of millennial musings herself, Kate Kennedy, back on the show. We discuss her new book One in a Millennial, the motivation for sharing the nostalgia and real stories behind this generation of woman, the paradox we've faced in our career paths, body image in the 90s/early aughts and its effects on us today, and how religion/purity culture can shape your sexuality to the point of confusion at best and trauma at worst. We reminisce on the mall glory days, our favorite Bath & Body Works scents, why Ashley was a fashion icon in high school, and where Rayna got her prom dresses. Kate also opens up about her indecisiveness to have children (spoiler alert: she had one), and the advice NOT to give someone struggling with this decision.  Before Kate joins us, we are revealing how long we stayed on the family plan, ranting about the pet peeve all guys do around the house, and having an important discussion about plane safety and flight attendant humor. AND we debut the Vibes Only cock ring and spill the tea on its name. Enjoy! Find Kate on instagram @katekennedy, check out her podcast Be There in Five, and get her new book One in a Millennial. Stop Trying to Be a “Good” Woman feat. Author Elise Loehnen

Stop Trying to Be a “Good” Woman feat. Author Elise Loehnen
We are kicking off the year with a very enlightening conversation with Elise Loehnen, author of the New York Times bestseller On Our Best Behavior: The Seven Deadly Sins and the Price Women Pay to Be Good. We discuss these seven “sins” and the (wrong) notion we’ve been fed that a “good woman” is not supposed to indulge them, and why it’s so much easier to damage a woman's reputation than a man’s.  We chat about embracing pride, using your envy to figure out what you want in life, owning your lustfulness, and why anger is a positive emotion. We also talk about the nonstop policing and judging of women’s bodies, why we punish ourselves for being “gluttonous,”  and how we can learn to accept our bodies. There is so much ground covered, but above all –  the importance of women supporting each other in the name of world domination. Before Elise joins us, we’re doing a quick Christmas/appetizer contest recap, sharing our goals for 2024, as well as some  from our audience, and announcing the official slogan for the year. Enjoy! Follow Elise on Instagram @eliseloehnen, check out her podcast Pulling the Thread, and get her book On Our Best Behavior.  Follow us on Instagram @girlsgottaeatpodcast, Ashley @ashhess, and Rayna @rayna.greenberg. How to Break Cycles and Have Empowered Relationships with Dr. Nicole LePera
This episode is a game changer when it comes to understanding yourself in relationships thanks to long-awaited guest Dr. Nicole LePera, holistic psychologist and bestselling author. Nicole covers so much ground, including why we seek out relationships that feel familiar but aren’t healthy for us (and how to stop), why fear of rejection can be debilitating, and the difference between relationships that are empowered and disempowered. We dissect trauma bonding (both the power and danger of it), and also discuss how couples misinterpret each other’s behaviors (touching on love languages, but going even deeper) and how you can better understand each other instead of expecting them to change. Nicole also tells us about her throuple and the dynamics of it. Before she joins us, we catch up on Ashley’s recent altercation on a plane, Rayna’s observations about sisters, and a star-studded event we attended. Enjoy!  Follow Nicole on Instagram @the.holistic.psychologist and get her new book How to Be the Love You Seek. Why We Fake Orgasms and How to Stop feat. Sex Therapist Vanessa Marin
We are SO excited (or rather, aroused) to do this episode about faking orgasms! We brought in sex therapist and bestselling author Vanessa Marin to chat about how many women are faking orgasms, why we do it, how to stop doing it, and how to talk to your partner if you’ve been faking for a while (or forever!). We also break down how to end the sexual experience when you don’t know how, reframing “good sex” even when there isn’t a climax, and how to mix up the order you do things in the bedroom so everyone gets off. And we even touch on men having difficulty reaching orgasm. Before Vanessa joins us, we’re catching up on Ashley meeting her boyfriend’s parents, Rayna’s awkward vibrator moment with her family, and we have a very special (official) debut from TESSA! We’re also introducing new Vibes Only products – handcuffs anyone? Enjoy!
