Psalm 86:1-13 I. Am I willing to get honest with God and myself? – Ps 86:1-2 The hardest person to rescue is the one still trying to save himself. Trusting God demands an active and deliberate trust. Active trust evaluates several key areas: - Historical performance - Availability and response time - Understanding of my limitations and potential II. Am I willing to Call out and receive God’s goodness? – Ps 86:3-7 God’s goodness is His core essence – He longs for us to ask him for it! If I believe God is good, I can believe he will ALWAYS be good III. Am I willing to rest in God’s character and wait for His deliverance? Psalm 86:8-10 God’s eternal nature secures my temporary nature. What should I do to prepare for the storm until God’s deliverance comes? - Prepare now. The storm is sure to come. It’s just a matter of when. - Anchor deep. - Secure yourself well but not too tight. Flexibility is necessary if the vessel is going to survive the storm. - Get rid of everything you don’t absolutely have to have. - Find friends who think like you do. Ask for their help and return the favor. IV. Am I willing to trust God for wisdom to guide me? – Psalm 86:11-13 Teachability is a necessity in prayer. Praise is a necessity in prayer.
