Magnus

Melbourne-born and bred, DJ Magnus clearly communicates an infectious passion for music through the decks. If you missed his debut gig at Cairns Tropical Pride in 2007, he may well have had you sweating it out at Big Gay Day (Brisbane), I Remember House (Sydney / Melbs), Midsumma T-Dance (Melbourne), CoastOut (Coffs Harbour), ChillOut (Daylesford), Christchurch Pride (NZ), Rebel Bar (Melbs / Sydney), Broken Heel Festival (Broken Hill), Geelong Rainbow Festival, Tropical Fruits Festival (Lismore), or at the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras AfterParty.

His signature sound of uplifting vocal House and an instinct for reading a crowd whilst delivering goosebumps on the dance floor, have earned him a respected place as one of Australia's finest House music DJs / LGBTQIA+ artists. However, he also shows fantastic versatility by playing genres Chill, Deep House, Progressive, and Trance.

He's held residencies all over Australia, including The Wickham / White Wolf (Brisbane), Daywash / Hot Kandi / ARQ / The Colombian (Sydney), Rock City / Sircuit / The GH / Sundaylicious, Viper Room, The Peel (Melbourne), and Flamingos (Hobart), and more recently The Met / Levee Bar / Beats On Tap (Lismore).

DJ Magnus has also supported many local & International acts including Heather Small (M People), Paul Mac, Kelly Rowland, Wynter Gordon & played alongside DJs Seamus Haji, eSQUIRE, Jolyon Petch, Dani Toro and Wayne G to name a few.

His online mixsets consistently rank in the Top 10 on podomatic.com, holding the #1 position countless times!

On Australia Day 2017, he hosted his very first fundraising event for Black Dog Institute (raising $8K), launched a successful weekly Sunday Session called "SHAG" with well-known Melbourne DJ "Queen Martine", and joined a brand new LGBTQIA+ Superclub called "PLAY Fridays" as resident DJ and Musical Director.

In 2018, he soared to new heights with his very first "AURAL" Trance event on NYD, with a series of follow-up parties, plus their new "FunHouse" events (Melbs, Hobart, Lismore), collaborating on both of these with fellow Melbourne DJ Damien Mack.

But the real highlight of his career so far that same year, was his signing to boutique studio Melodic Music as a singer/songwriter and producer. He wrote, sung, co-produced, and officially released his original debut single called "Until I..." on iTunes worldwide on November 29th, followed shortly by two official remixes.

In 2019, he debuted at the 30th anniversary of the Tropical Fruits Festival, added four LIVE performances of "Until I..." included opening the Midsumma T-Dance in front of an estimated crowd of 100,000 people !!!

He launched the annual Pool Party for Tropical Fruits on NYD 2020, and was equally excited to provide the music for the "Colours of Our Community" float in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade in March.

In 2020 he relocated to Lismore to be involved with the Tropical Fruits organisation, and local community volunteering. He was voted onto the Fruits committee and was responsible for their socials, setting up their monthly live streams and the regular "Fruity Fridays" events.

With regular monthly gigs, he's established himself as a much sought-after local performer and valued community member.

As always,
Peace, love & tunes.

Peter Rauhofer (April 29, 1965 - May 7, 2013) was an Austrian-American House producer, remixer and DJ. Peter was born in Wien (Vienna) and mainly lived in New York City. Peter first got his start as an A&R man for GIG Records. Since his first recording under his well known alias, Club 69, Peter had come to be one of the most in-demand remixers of the late 90's/2000's.Club 69 was one of the most popular alias of Peter Rauhofer in the 1990's. At first, Rauhofer used different aliases to release his music. These projects all featured the vocals of Kim Cooper. In 1992, a remix of 'Unique' and the single 'Let Me Be Your Underwear' began to be played in Europe and in North America. Episode 97: Last Night A DJ Saved My Life (DJ Magnus 2023 Deep House Mix)
Hey beautiful humans, Today I am super proud to be celebrating 1000 days clean of crystal meth !!! And releasing this very special Remix…For those that don’t know my journey so far: 10 years ago when I was living in Sydney and Melbourne for several years, I initially got introduced to ice via the dating apps, and subsequently got caught up in a vicious cycle of drug and sex addiction. Because I mainly used as a hook up drug on weekends, this quickly became a regular pattern of abuse that I struggled to break free from. To the point where I wasn’t even really enjoying what I was doing anymore. Something had to change! And it most certainly did! My mother passed away. And not long after, I made the decision to relocate to Lismore. Since then it’s been one major tree change, three years of local community, connection, reflection, recovery, grief, loss, love, support, and of course the amazing natural healing power of Mother Nature! I’d previously lost many good people in my life, work opportunities, my health, my reputation, and of course a shitload of money due to my addiction. The added stigma surrounding ice is still rife in our community, so I totally understand how very difficult it is to even open up and reach out for help, without being judged. It’s hard enough to try and quit crystal meth to get clean. But I am more than happy to be that uncomfortable conversation starter for anyone who needs it. I know that publicly sharing my own personal story has also helped to motivate and inspire other friends to come clean about being clean. Huge kudos to you too! And I hope that continues to be the case moving forward… Massive thanks to all those who have been here with me on this “manic to Magic” journey. You know who you are, and for that I am truly grateful and I love you dearly !!! Easing into my 50s, I’m happy to say that I’m living my best life, so much healthier, happier, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually too. Thankfully, Music has always been there, my life passion, and a constant source of happiness. So when I decided to release a commemorative Remix for today, and knowing the power of music and how it connects people, I thought how very fitting it would be to work on “Last Night A DJ Saved My Life”. The song is one of my all time faves, and I really hope you love the Deep House treatment I’ve given it, so enjoy! And as always…Peace, love, and tunes.
