Inventions of Thomas Midgley Jr. Killed Millions
Send us a Text Message.Thomas Midgley Jr. (May 18, 1889 – November 2, 1944) was an American mechanical and chemical engineer. He played a major role in developing leaded gasoline (tetraethyl lead) and some of the first chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), better known in the United States by the brand name Freon; both products were later banned from common use due to their harmful impact on human health and the environment. He was granted more than 100 patents over the course of his career.Midgley contracted polio in 1940 and was left disabled; in 1944, he was found strangled to death by a device he devised to allow him to get out of bed unassisted. It was reported to the public that he had been accidentally killed by his own invention, but his death was declared by the coroner to be a suicide.Read More about Thomas Midgley Jr.Interesting Video: The Man Who Accidentally Killed The Most People In HistoryAir Conditioner Failing? Asbestos - History & Risks
Send us a Text Message.Asbestos is a group of six naturally occurring minerals made up of heat-resistant fibers. It was used in thousands of U.S. consumer products before the dangers of asbestos were known. Asbestos causes mesothelioma, lung cancer and other cancers. Asbestos is regulated in the U.S., but not banned. Asbestos has been with us since the 1800s but wasn't regulated until after it impacted lives for nearly 100 years. There are still legacy exposure risks in certain career fields and residential situations.Discussion Resources:Fake Snow Made From Asbestos was Marketed As Christmas Decorhttps://asbestosproservices.com/2018/12/fake-snow-made-from-asbestos-was-marketed-as-christmas-decor/Asbestos.comhttps://www.asbestos.com/asbestos/Air Conditioner Failing? "Don't Say Gay" - Erasing LGBTQI+ People

"Don't Say Gay" - Erasing LGBTQI+ People
Send us a Text Message.Florida's HB 1557, also known as the 'Don't Say Gay' bill, should never have passed and should never have been signed into lawPublic school teachers in Florida are banned from holding classroom instruction about sexual orientation or gender identity after Florida's Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, signed the controversial "Parental Rights in Education" bill. The law states: "Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards." Parents would be able to sue districts over violations.DeSantis said teaching kindergarten-aged kids that "they can be whatever they want to be" was "inappropriate" for children. DeSantis and other Republicans have repeatedly described the rules as reasonable, saying children should learn about sexual orientation and gender identity from their parents, not in schools."We will make sure that parents can send their kids to school to get an education, not an indoctrination," the governor said when he signed it into law.--Legal Challenge--The challenge filed in federal court in Tallahassee on behalf of Equality Florida and Family Equality alleges that the law violates the constitutionally protected rights of free speech, equal protection and due process of students and families."This effort to control young minds through state censorship — and to demean LGBTQ lives by denying their reality — is a grave abuse of power," the lawsuit says."The United States Supreme Court has repeatedly affirmed that LGBTQ people and their families are at home in our constitutional order. The State of Florida has no right to declare them outcasts, or to treat their allies as outlaws, by punishing schools where someone dares to affirm their identity and dignity," the lawsuit says. The law deliberately employs broad terms and invites arbitrarAir Conditioner Failing? Conservatism - A response to Scott Yenor about women in STEM
Send us a Text Message.Scott Yenor made some statements about his opposing views towards feminism in America. This man is a college professor who stands against higher education ideals like colleges and universities, yet has personally and financially benefited from such an organization, Boise State University in Boise, ID. This first clip is from November 01, 2021 and is Scott Yenor's address at the second national conservatism conference.Watch original video:Scott Yenor: The Family Form That Nations Need - National Conservatism Conference IIThe second clip is a video response on Scott Yenor's twitter account made on November 30, 2021 Watch original video: Scott Yenor responds to outrage on previous statementsFamily is important, but a family cannot exist in today's landscape simply on a prayer or faith. Every person has a purpose. Men can stay at home, women can stay at home, as long as they can afford to do so; keeping a roof over the heads of their loved ones. Do we deserve a future in support of feminism? Is the lack of COVID-19 health practices part of the desire to purge human life as punishment by the radical conservative christian right?Perhaps the lack of confidence in the future is the reckless re-population of this planet? The unchecked proliferation of natural and finite resources?"Soy boys" a slang phrase to call plant-based and environmentally conscientious men "weak" in the eyes of artery clogged masculine men who are preparing to die prematurely of a massive heart attack; men who are scared to question the old ways and adapt to the knowledge of today and sustainability of tomorrow.Misogyny is "dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against women."Feminism is "the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes."  Air Conditioner Failing? Larry Grensing Jr. 1955-2021
Send us a Text Message. My dad passed away following a 6 year battle against stage 4 congestive heart failure and colon cancer. He outlived the longest timelines of both terminal diagnoses by at least a year. This episode is a eulogy written by Everett McConnaughey as well as a life sketch written by his sister Neva McConnaughey. We promise it's uplifting, inspiring, and positive; but it might make you teary.Contribute to Memorial Park Bench FundOne thing Larry always requested was that we never mourn where he died but celebrate where he lived. In lieu of flowers, we'd appreciate donations to help with dedicating a park bench in his honor. He loved the mountains and we could not think of a more perfect way to remember him by then creating a spot we can visit and reflect. Location and details to be determined.  https://everloved.com/life-of/larry-grensing/Air Conditioner Failing? Power Bill Too High? My Take on Finances - Start Saving Now!
Send us a Text Message. Are you living paycheck to paycheck? Does the thought of managing your bills stress you out? You're not alone!Everett wants to share some personal advice that helped him go from $4,000 in credit card debt to 100% debt-free in just 4 years. Not only is Everett debt-free, but he also has enough savings to cover large emergencies and even borrow against that savings for purchases of high-cost items like a new phone. While Everett is certainly proud of his hard work, he is humble enough to know that not everyone can get the same results on their own, so he wants to share the mindset and thinking that helped yield a positive end goal.   Nearly 50% of the baby boomer generation does not have savings for retirement or emergencies. Everett's late grandfather instilled the wisdom to "invest as much as you can, as early as you can" and that advice has garnered financial stability for Everett and his husband. My Review of Cellphone Carriers (AUDIO UPDATED 10/5/21)

My Review of Cellphone Carriers (AUDIO UPDATED 10/5/21)
Send us a Text Message. UPDATE 10/5/2021: Visible by Verizon really messed up and took my phone offline for 19 hours with no explanation as to what happened or why. They really could not have cared about me as a customer. I have decided to go back to T-Mobile as a post-pay customer, and have removed my glowing review of Visible Wireless in this episode. I DO NOT recommend them to anyone for reliable service at any bargain price. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------The cellphone number that I have has been online and in my possession since 2005. In 2005 I was a junior in high school and had just gotten a Samsung flip phone on my father's wife's Verizon plan. Verizon's service has been amazing in Idaho for decades, and frequently is the only (if any at all) service that you can get in the central mountains. In 2012 I started working for Verizon Wireless as a tier II tech support agent, tasked with helping customers troubleshoot and fix device issues, and service problems. While I worked at Verizon I learned about their billing structure and how a phone plan was $60/month plus there was a $20 (basic phone) or $30 (smartphone) access fee that essentially allowed the customer's device to access the features of their account. I was upset with learning this, and I terminated service for $135 and took my phone to Cricket Wireless for 9 months, before joining T-Mobile in 2013.So much has changed with technology in nearly a decade, so much has improved, but in many ways so much hasn't. I was tired of paying $75 a month for unlimited service when I hardly ever used that service. I switched from a post-pay T-Mobile account to a prepay T-Mobile account in 2017 which lowered my cost in half while I still got all the features you expect with a wireless phone provider. When the 5G was rolled out in Boise in December 2020, I got a new iPhone 12 but the 5G was useless and I had to disable that radio on my phone to opt for 4G LTE service instead. I was finally tired of the boilerplate  "we'd love to help" responses to my frustrAir Conditioner Failing? Body Autonomy, A Pro-Choice Perspective

Body Autonomy, A Pro-Choice Perspective
Send us a Text Message.Do women have autonomy over their body? Texas and many others in the "pro life" spectrum seem to believe that women should be forced to carry a fetus to full term, and enter another human into the realm of life. If you're a bone marrow donor, you get to choose if you save someones life, if you're an organ donor you get to choose if your organs are used to save a life after you die or whether they can be used for scientific analysis and understanding. What if the government could force you to donate your body (alive or otherwise) to causes you may or may not support? What if someone could sue you for not giving up part of your body for their need or cause? We're truly in dangerous waters if we don't believe in individual freedoms and personal body autonomy.Air Conditioner Failing? Power Bill Too High?
