Lavina Mehta on how a passion project can lead to an MBE
Lavina Mehta is a personal trainer, wellness coach, mum of three and TV and radio fitness expert. Lavina started her working life in management and quickly ascended to a Global Project Manager role at BP, but eventually chose to leave this role to focus on her family. It’s a decision that so many women have to face in their careers - but for Lavina it was an opportunity for an amazing reinvention. As you’ll hear, she became more and more interested in fitness and it ignited passion in her for exercise and nutrition. At age 40 she qualified as a personal trainer and became committed to helping other Asian women like her look after their health. During lockdown she offered twice daily “snack” workouts to help people keep fit from home. It snowballed into a global phenomenon and in October 2020 she was awarded in MBE for services in Health & Fitness over the covid pandemic. She’s won multiple other accolades and awards for her work and is about to publish her first book focused on fitness and health in menopause. She is passionate about showing women how to look after their bodies and that it’s never too late to follow & fulfil their dreams.  Find out more about Lavina on her website here And you can order her new book The Feel Good Fix here   Follow Debbie on Instagram and Linked In Follow Anna on Instagram and Linked In   The Better Life: Mastering the Art of Reinvention is sponsored by The Better Menopause and produced by Bird Lime Media.   www.thebettermenopause.com @thebettermenopause

Sharmadean Reid on the secrets behind a lifetime of reinvention
Sharmadean Reid must be the godmother of reinvention. She’s not even 40 yet and she’s already got an MBE for the work she’s done to change the beauty and nail industry - which started with the founding of the WAH (we ain’t heroes) nail salon in London, which offered fashion-forward nail art designs that you couldn’t find anywhere else. She then pivoted to found The Beauty Stack - a social platform for beauty treatments, and was the first black woman to raise £1 million in seed funding for the idea. And more recently, she founded The Stack World - a female-led new media company which aims to economically empower female entrepreneurs. Now, approaching her 5th decade, she’s starting to think about what her legacy should look like, and her book, New Methods for Women: A Manifesto, is out now. Sharmadean is one of those people who captured the spirit of youth and ran with it, and we love how outspoken and unapologetic she is about how she’s followed her intuition. She also has a  fearless approach to exploring new ideas, and we think we can all learn something from her energy and confidence.    You can order Sharmadean’s book, New Methods for Women: A Manifesto here   Follow Debbie on Instagram and Linked In Follow Anna on Instagram and Linked In   The Better Life: Mastering the Art of Reinvention is sponsored by The Better Menopause and produced by Bird Lime Media.   www.thebettermenopause.com @thebettermenopause
