Feedback
A conversation with hosts, Brie Stockwell and Len Metcalf, unpacking & exploring creativity through the art of photography and other creative passions.   In this chat about "Feedback" we discuss: How feedback & critiques improve our art and creativity When we want to seek feedback or notPositive vs. negative feedback How do we give feedback?Mindset about feedback Open to growthCuriosityWillingness to learn Mentioned in this episode: "Discomfort is the currency of your dreams." - Brooke CastilloFocus on where we are going "right":When I look at this photograph I feel .... it tells me...it reminds me...it works well because... Len’s Rules for giving feedback If you don’t have something positive to say, say nothingJust because you love to hear where you went wrong, that doesn’t mean others doThere is no right or wrong in art  - no better - it is about self expressionBe humble and sincereBe encouragingAvoid the personal “It doesn’t matter how much authority or power a feedback giver has; the receivers are in control of what they do and don’t let in, how they make sense of what they’re hearing, and whether they choose to change. it’s about how to recognize and manage our resistance, how to engage in feedback conversations with confidence and curiosity, and even when the feedback seems wrong, how to find insight that might help us grow. It’s also about how to stand up for who we are and how we see the world, and ask for what we need. It’s about how to learn from feedback—yes, even when it is off base, unfair, poorly delivered, and frankly, you’re not in the mood.” -Douglas Stone (Thanks for the Feedback) Thank you for listening and helping us celebrate creativity!  Please don't hesitate to engage us in conversation by connecting with us on Instagram or send us an email at create@acreativeaffairpodcast.com.
