Breaking Down Toddler Sleep Training BS

Breaking Down Toddler Sleep Training BS
Trigger warning, I’ll get a little spicy in this episode of Resting in Motherhood as I debunk common toddler sleep myths. As I was working on my upcoming toddler course, I asked my community about toddler sleep advice that they’ve gotten that just didn’t feel right. I received an overwhelming response and narrowed it down to a few main topics that I will discuss (and refute) in this podcast episode. If you’ve ever been told to lock your toddler in their room or leave them to cry it out, I’ll explain exactly why these “methods” are extremely detrimental to your child’s development and what to do instead. The truth is, your toddler is not crying to manipulate you. Co-sleeping doesn’t make children clingy and overly dependent - it actually does the complete opposite. And, most importantly, you CAN make successful sleep changes in loving and gentle ways that are not rooted in separation and unresponsiveness. If you want to learn more about making positive sleep changes, I’m on the cusp of launching my toddler sleep course on April 4th. You can get on the waitlist to learn more here. By joining the waitlist, you're getting $50 off and also the chance to join a live toddler sleep Q&A call with me. Why Toddler Sleep is More Complicated Than Baby Sleep

Why Toddler Sleep is More Complicated Than Baby Sleep
This episode of Resting in Motherhood is for my toddler mamas (but it’s also good to have in your toolbox if your little one is still a baby), I want to talk about the difference between toddler sleep and baby sleep. When I first started supporting families, I imagined that I was going to be working mostly with zero to 12 month olds, but as my business grew, I started seeing more and more older babies come in and I quickly found out that toddler sleep is actually my favorite type of sleep to support clients with. It doesn't mean that I don't love working with zero to 12 month olds, I do, but toddler sleep is a lot more complicated than baby sleep and I want to dive into why that is. This episode isn’t meant to scare you, especially if you're in the first year and things already feel so hard. Toddler sleep is not harder, I think it is just more complicated. But I have so much support and resources for you that will help you feel empowered, confident, and educated when it comes to your child’s sleep. This episode is happening at the perfect time, too because I’m on the cusp of launching my upcoming toddler sleep course on April 4th. You Can’t Control Your Baby’s Sleep (but you can control this!)

You Can’t Control Your Baby’s Sleep (but you can control this!)
Welcome back to Resting in Motherhood, how are you finding rest this week mama? Head over to Instagram and send me a message to let me know. I'm really excited to dive into what I want to talk to you about today, which is the fact that we cannot control sleep for our little ones. Let me say it again: you cannot control your baby’s sleep. This is something that I think a lot of us struggle with, and having gone through it myself and looking back, my hypothesis or my theory is that the reason we struggle so much with infant sleep is because it is out of our control, yet we feel like it's something that we should be able to control. We feel like this because the sleep training industry has given us this totally skewed perception that we can control nap lengths, that we can control exactly when our baby is going to sleep and we can make them sleep through the night. This false idea that we can control our baby's sleep, leads to so much doubt, shame and overwhelm in parenthood. So I want to use these next 30 minutes to share some solutions that will help you recognize what you can control to maximize sleep and stress for you and your baby!Connect with me on Instagram: @resting_in_motherhood or visit the show’s site here.Work with Brittni:View current 1:1 Call and/or Email support services herePurchase the comprehensive sleep course, Resting in the First YearBook a 15 Minute Discovery Call hereCheck out additional workshops and guides hereThe Resting in Motherhood Podcast is produced by Heart Centered Podcasting.
