Eric H - God With Skin On - Meeting 84
Guest Intro and Bio in Eric’s own  words:  Today I celebrate my 2 year sobriety birthday!  I’ve been a Sexaholic forever, and finally, two years ago, I was finally ready to admit to myself that my life was a mess.  My addiction was taking over all aspects of my life and I saw a vision of everything I claimed to care about slipping away.  I came into SA on the heels of an emotional affair that ended in 2019.  I truly thought at the time that I was going to have to suffer with this affliction for the rest of my life.  SA and my HP saved my life. The thing I craved most and never got as a child was emotional connections.  I’ve found the Real Connection here in the rooms of SA and it’s given me the tools to use to make those connections in all aspects of my life. Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  Speakers from our past meetings have represented many, many fellowships and identify with addictions with such variety of alcohol, drugs, food, sex, gambling, theft, just to name a few.  Each Friday at noon central time, we hold a live, lunch-hour speaker meeting with a recovering addict from anywhere on Earth, pertaining to any or no faith tradition, and with any background, who shares their experience, strength, and hope on a specified recovery topic of their choice.  They share for 20-25 minutes on that topic, and then the live audience gets the opportunity to ask questions of that speaker for another 20-25 minutes.  Reco12 is a self-supporting service and we appreciate your help in keeping it that way.  We gratefully accept contributions to help cover the costs of the Zoom platform, podcast platform, web hosting, and administrative costs.  To contribute, you can go to https://www.reco12.com/support  or you can click the link to PayPal (https://www.paypal.me/reco12)  in the chat of the live meeting.  When you contribute, please specify the meeting number.  This is meeting number 84.  Resources referenced:Sexaholics AnonymousOutro music is “Standing Still” by Cory Ellsworth and Randy Kartchner, performed by Mike Eldred and Elizabeth Wolfe.  This song, and/or the entire soundtrack for the future Broadway musical, “Crosses:  A Musical of Hope”, can be purchased here:  https://music.apple.com/us/album/crosses-musical-hope-by-cory/528476262  This song is used with the  permission of Cory Ellsworth.Support the show (https://www.reco12.com/support)

Andrew:  is a 47 year old recovering sexoholic,  sober for 6 years. He joined the SA fellowship 11 years ago. He does his step work and has a sponsor and a few sponsees in SA.  He has also worked the steps in CODA.  He is clean from drugs for 23 years but has never joined a drug fellowship. Recently he started to do part-time work as an addiction therapist  in a small clinic that specializes in sex addiction.  In recovery he found God and God's guidance.  Thanks to His grace he has been married for 2 years to his lovely wife Sara who he first met in SA. This last year in July, their baby girl was born and right now he is living the life he had never expected to be possible.Sara: is a 30 year old recovering sex addict, sober from lust thanks to God's grace for 4.5 years. She has worked the 12 step program with a sponsor and served as a sponsor to other female sex addicts in her fellowship. Since she is married to another recovering sex addict is a part of the S-Anon fellowship which helps her to address the patterns of codependency and heal from them as well. When she first joined the SA fellowship she was a broken woman. She felt like her life was over. She reached my lowest low and didn't expect there was any decent life possible after that. But God in His goodness made her recover rapidly and soon after, gave her a wonderful husband and best friend- Andrew. They have their highs and lows but mutual faith and the 12 steps principles keep them close and make their marriage flourish. He learned that he suffered from a spiritual illness brought by a human condition. self. He was freed in 2019 & has walked emotionally free ever since! Tony S - How Addiction Swapped in Recovery - Meeting 78
Tony S from New Zealand in his own words:  I came into Alcoholics Anonymous in a very dark state in 1989, and while I was grateful when the craving to drink and drug was removed by a power greater than me, the obsession to eat I'd been battling all my life got more powerful by the day. I continued to eat addictively, and, as a result, didn't experience the freedoms of AA's promises. (Sponsoring myself for eight years didn't help!). In a Paris hotel in 2002, after a deeply shameful episode, I finally accepted I was as powerless over food as I was over alcohol, and that I must seek help from sober members following the principles now practised by Addictive Eaters Anonymous (AEA). Since getting a real sponsor and starting to work the Steps, I haven't had to eat addictively or use any mind-altering substance and my life continues to get better day by day.Welcome to Reco12.  We are an organization whose addictions include alcohol, drugs, lust and sex, food and gambling, just to name a few.  We come together from all places, faiths and backgrounds to learn the similarities of addiction and to gain tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  We invite recovering addicts with at least 1 year sobriety and who are actively working their recovery in their respective fellowships to share their experience, strength and hope on a live Zoom webinar, each Friday at 12:00 pm central time, for 20-25 minutes.  Then, we, the live audience, get the opportunity to ask questions of the speaker for another 20-25 minutes.  If you are hearing this meeting in recorded podcast form and would like to participate as a live audience member in the future, please go to www.reco12.com to learn more and submit your email address there to receive weekly invitations.  Reco12 is a self-supporting service and we appreciate your help in keeping us working our Step 12 in this manner.  We gratefully accept contributions.  If you choose to contribute, you can go to https://www.reco12.com/support  or you can click the link to PayPal (https://www.paypal.me/reco12)  in the chat of the live meeting.  When you contribute, please specify the meeting number.  This is meeting number 78.Resources mentioned in this meeting:Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)Addictive Eaters Anonymous (AEA)Outro music is “Standing Still” by Cory Ellsworth and Randy Kartchner, performed by Mike Eldred and Elizabeth Wolfe.

Ryan L - Honest Self Amends - Meeting 73
If asked about Ryan L's most prominent character trait growing up, his family would likely cite his need to be right. This trait caused him to inwardly (and sometimes outwardly) push his family members aside at the cost of the loving connections that he needed as a sensitive kid. Through his parents' attempts at sexual education, Ryan learned that sex was supposed to be a loving, connecting thing – never mind that it was only supposed to be used in marriage. At 8 years old, he discovered masturbation and then at 14 he discovered pornography and used them to avoid having to admit that he was wrong. His "inner child" never had a chance to grow up because he couldn't admit his mistake or accept his family members in their imperfections. Instead, he hid that boy away behind walls of half-truths, outright lies, and secrecy. Resentment became a way of life and it only progressed with the practice of sexual addiction. However, while watching his brother's change from the darkness of his own addictions to light, Ryan saw something that he wanted: real change and light. Ryan began working the 12 steps of recovery with ARPSupport sponsorship and SAL groups. One of the most powerful experiences he has had in the last 2+ years of recovery was the amends he made and still works on today to God and to himself. We gratefully accept contributions to help cover the costs of the Zoom platform, podcast platform, web hosting, and administrative costs. Lydz G - Where's the Power in the Low Spots? - Meeting 72
Lydz G has been in medical treatment for their eating disorder on and off for the last 12 years, and began their journey in 12 step a year ago through the rooms of Al Anon, after the bad break up of their first open, long term lesbian relationship. The big book says "we addicts are extremists" and Lydz is no exception - they went to three zoom meetings a day seeking experience, strength, and hope after being given their first conception of God in recovery- the Gift Of Desperation. Their obsessive mind was put to use immediately in service, where they helped organize a worldwide recovery marathon for BIPOC (Black + Indigenous People of Color), therefore serving the second Power Greater Than Themself: Cultural Resilience. There they found their sponsor and began their journey in the steps through Big Book recovery. They identify today as a multidisciplinary addict. Today, they talk about a Higher Power in the form of astrology, tarot, culture, tradition, community, Source, Spirit of the Universe, and Mother Earth, and how to genuinely seek our own concept of God when there are certain trials and low spots ahead. God is meant to be experienced and not understood, but Lydz understands so far that their Creator fills their life with jokes and lessons. Welcome to Reco12. Ellen S - Surrender: Hitting a Second Bottom - Meeting 66
Ellen S. came across the Big Book rooms nearly 5 years ago, and treated the program as an alternative to therapy. She took from the program what she wanted, and left the rest in the rooms. Because her life began to get better anyway, this worked for a time. Until she had achieved every major goal her “self” from 5 years ago had set out to do, and her anxiety only grew stronger. This was her second bottom. It had to be thoroughly proven to her that she was an addict at heart. She has a body allergy to living life on life's terms. Wealth, relationship, career - all of it can be a “log” if she pursues them selfishly. All are a gift in God's will. BB p 334: an alcoholic cannot both control and enjoy his drinking. She could not both run her life, and enjoy living it too. Even if her actions changed little, her motivations had to align with God's constantly. If she doesn't live in surrender, she can't live at all.Welcome to Reco12. This is meeting number 66.References from this meeting:Alcoholics AnonymousSLAA - TorontoSpiritual Gangsters:Friday night (BB SLAA) 7:00 PM PST/ 10:00 PM EST  For those interested, best thing to do is to join one of our meetings, and we’ll provide information on how to join the whatsapp group in the chat there.Morning Meditation Meeting  M-F 7-7:30 EST  Sat & Sun 8am EST Outro music is “Standing Still” by Cory Ellsworth and Randy Kartchner, performed by Mike Eldred and Elizabeth Wolfe.
