Our Editor's Take

Rico Brogna is a podcast for Mets fans by a Mets fanatic. Host Evan Roberts offers his energetic opinions on all the latest Mets news. From MLB playoffs to the World Series, Evan brings listeners a bold and honest report. His refreshing New Yorker personality gives fans a show to rally around. Along with cohost Pete "Hoff" Hoffman, he is one of the preeminent Mets reporters.

Evan began his career in radio at the young age of 15. He provided updates on the WFAN program Imus in the Morning. Evan then created his own youth radio show called Kidsports. To this day, he continues to host sports radio on WFAN as well as two podcasts. Besides Rico Brogna, Evan runs The Evan Roberts Podcast. On it, he shares his opinions on wrestling, TV shows, and other sports.

Beyond current team events, listeners learn about the history of the New York Mets. Evan and Hoff share fascinating stories from the team's storied career. They have explored the franchise's MVPs and the worst Mets manager of all time. Each season, the podcast explores everything from coaches to the pitchers in the bullpen.

Evan had a lot to talk about in 2023, an interesting year for the Mets. The podcast examined owner Steve Cohen's trades and hiring decisions. Listeners also got to hear Evan's thoughts on Billy Eppler's and Buck Showalter's resignations.

This podcast gets its name from the most underrated Met of all time, according to Evan. Rico Brogna had an impressive career with the Mets, hitting Coors Field's first home run ever. Following an unfortunate spinal condition diagnosis, the team traded him to the Phillies. He went on to recover and played several more successful seasons. Despite ending his career with the Phillies, Evan still sees Rico as a Met.

For anyone who follows the Mets, Rico Brogna may become a top listen. New podcast episodes premiere several times weekly.
